Brokeback Eminem
antiMusic reports: Hollywood has remake fever (or a lack of imagination and originality) and after the critical success of "Brokeback Mountain" they are looking at old Westerns to give the remake treatment to. So Paramount Pictures execs have decided to dust off the old 50s era TV Western "Have Gun will Travel" and somewhere in the process they lost the western part by updating it to modern times.

Now the most important part when making a remake is casting. For this the execs said forget Pitt, who wants Cruise, Russell doesn't bring 'em in like he used to. Wait a minute. 'Em? That's it! Let's get Eminem! The rapper is set to gunfighter for hire Paladin transformed into a bounty hunter, according to reports. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

According to Allhiphop.com the rapper was hit from behind as he tried to avoid the traffic jam on the Hutchinson River Highway by driving up the hard shoulder on Sunday (June 11).[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

AFI Rules MySpace and Beyond
antiMusic reports: AFI live up to their acronym as they have ignited a fire inside of their fans and scored a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Album charts for their latest 'decemberunderground' as well as made Myspace history by being the first band to reach 500,000 single-day plays on their MySpace page. As a result, the MySpace powers that be have given the band the very first MySpace Music Award.

Germs to Remember
CMJ reports: Legendary L.A. punk band the Germs have announced a tour featuring most of the band's original members and actor Shane West. Germs members Pat Smear, Lorna Doom and Don Bolles have signed on and, since a movie currently in production (What We Do Is Secret) stars West as Darby Crash, the actor will join them, handling frontman duties. West is best known for his recurring role on ER and his starring role in the teenage sobfest A Walk To Remember. Many Paths To Heaven: 101 Stairway Covers
antiMusic reports: Just what is the most covered song in history? That's open to debate but as the famous music store scene in "Wayne's World" illustrates there is no shortage of covers of the Led Zeppelin classic "Stairway to Heaven". In fact, freeform radio station WFMU have posted 101 covers of the song on their blog. Yes, you heard it right and as they say it's 101 versions of the song that doesn't remain the same! Some highlights include Gilligan's Island version, Dutch artist Jeroen Offerman's backwards version (he actually learned how to sing it backwards), an instrumental version from the criminally underrated band Redd Kross, The London Symphony Orchestra, an accordion version and much more.

Be sure to check out the Gregorian Masters of Chant version as well as Zakk Wylde's take on the classic. And why not combine two classics? As Dash Rip Rock offer up Stairway to Freebird. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Overkill 07?
antiMusic reports: Overkill are set to thrash the U.S. in early 2007. The band latest effort was 2005's "ReliXIV". It's more than likely this tour is support of that release but who knows maybe they'll have another release between now and when the tour kicks off in January.

Also the band is scheduled to play many of the same venues in September and October according to Pollstar. So these new dates may just be rescheduling. Their official site is hopelessly out of date but we'll do our best to get to the bottom of this and get you an update and/or clarification.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Tate's Got a Fake Gun
antiMusic reports: Queensryche announced Sunday in a rather cryptic message on their official website that the band had been arrested at the Amsterdam airport for smuggling illegal firearms. They promised more details to come but nothing has been added to the official site. However KNAC reports that Geoff Tate's wife Susan issued a short explanation which still leaves us scratching our heads about what really happened, however we do know that it appears to be much ado about a fake gun. Susan says, "Geoff uses a fake gun as a prop in part of the Mindcrime set and it was in his bag going through the airport. This got someone arrested... I am still unclear on all the details."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Slayer Desecration
KNAC reports: A website that glorifies the band Slayer is taking credit for inspiring unknown vandals to spray paint pentagrams and upside-down crosses at the entrance to St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, New York last week.

The site was set up last month to promote a National Day Of Slayer on June 6th. To participate, according to the site, one had only to play Slayer "at full blast." But the site also included several ways to "take participation to a problematic level," including: "Spray paint Slayer logos on churches, synagogues, or cemeteries."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Panic over Split
punkbands reports: The split between Panic! at the Disco and former bassist Brent Wilson just got a whole lot nastier, with both sides hurling unpleasant accusations at each other. On Monday MTV spoke to Wilson at his home in Las Vegas, and it quickly became clear that he was in no mood to make nice with his former bandmates.

"I was kicked out of the band," he said. ""It was 100 percent a surprise to me. We were about to leave for a show in California, and they called me the night before and told me I was out of the band. The only reason they gave was that it was for 'musical purposes.'[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
