Luca CD / Tour
PR reports: Luca will release their third CD, Fractions on September 25, 2007 from the Tucson-based label Funzalo Records. Front man Nick Luca's previous gigs include stints as John Doe's (X) touring guitarist, musician on releases by Neko Case, Calexico, Devotchka, Howe Gelb and many others, as well as the man behind the board at Wavelab Studios. However, with Fractions, Luca has taken a more indie rock approach than on previous efforts.

Why the change in musical direction? It all started with Luca's last CD, the 2006 release Sick of Love, which moved the band's sound into rock territory. To help him go in that direction, Nick enlisted guitarist Joey Unger and drummer Ryan Janac, both from Tucson's sonic-popsters Sunday Afternoon. And yes, Nick's longtime band mate, bassist Chris Giambelluca, is still onboard. Today, Luca is as much about the band as it is about the man. Luca's latest is a full-blown 4 piece indie rock juggernaut.- more including tour dates

New Sacha Sacket Coming in Oct
PR reports: Sacha Sacket returns with a new CD, Lovers & Leaders, which will be released nation-wide on October 9, 2007. Sacket plans to showcase the new material by touring all along the West Coast through September and beyond.

Emerging out of the Los Angeles music scene , Sacha Sacket is a self-taught pianist , belonging to a very select group of singers today that use the piano as their musical weapon of choice. Using delicately crafted acoustics coupled with sensitive songwriting and strong pop currents, Sacket injects new life into the traditional singer-songwriter medium.

Often compared to the likes of Coldplay, Elton John and Tori Amos, Sacket has coined his own cross-over appeal with-in the alternative pop, adult alternative and modern day rock audiences, and while most rockers are very guitar-powered, Sacket and his piano are the driving force behind his recordings.- Grab a listen and tour dates here

Hensch's Hometown Heroes Update
DiR reports: We have a major change for one of our more popular series here at antiMusic. Hensch's Hometown Heroes where Mark Hensch turns you on to new unsigned and indie artist every week will be slowing down a bit from the weekly column you are used to. We'll let Mark give you the 411, here he is:

It is with much deliberation I have decided that running a weekly full-length reviews column simply is too difficult at this time in my life. There is still millions of unsigned and obscure bands worth your collective ears, but as a college sophomore with a heavy course load, ambitious extra-curricular activities, and what I hope will be a very active year, I simply cannot find time to give you the best of the underground each and every week.

From now on I will be updating if and when I can, with no schedule or plan, simply when the moment allows. Keep supporting the best of the best in the underbelly of rock music and if you are a hungry band, please contact me and I'll be happy to hear you out, it just might take much longer this time. Much love and thanks for a good ride, Mark Hensch 2007 - more on this story

Badfinger Reissues
PR reports: The honor (and onus) of being "the next Beatles" has been bestowed upon many bands over the years. But out of all of them, only Badfinger was actually groomed by the Beatles. Their hits ("Come And Get It," No Matter What," "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue") were sparkling pop essentials steeped in the Beatle tradition and slaked the market's thirst for Beatle music in the Fab Four's waning days.

When their Apple Records contract elapsed, Badfinger took the opportunity to segué to Warner Bros., where they made two good if largely unheard albums before a series of tragedies would befall the band and its members.

On September 18, 2007, Collectors' Choice Music will reissue the band's two Warner Bros. albums, Badfinger and Wish You Were Here, both produced by Chris Thomas, whose credits included Roxy Music, The Sex Pistols, The Pretenders, Pink Floyd, Peter Townsend and Wings. The two albums were to launch a three-year, six-album deal with the Bunny. The year 1972 seemed to hold great promise for the second phase of the Badfinger story.- more on this story
