Fall Out Boy Turn to Cover Tunes to Bulk Up DVD

FMQB reports: Fall Out Boy has announced details of their new live CD/DVD, dubbed ****. Due April 8 via Island, the project will be available as a CD/DVD or a DVD only and was taped in June 2007 at Phoenix's Cricket Pavilion.

In addition to the band's hits ("Sugar, We're Going Down," "Thanks Fr The Mmrs," "This Ain't a Scene, It's An Arms Race"), a mix of dance-worthy cover songs are also included, such as Akon's "Don't Matter," Timbaland's "One and Only," Panic At The Disco's "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" and Michael Jackson's "Beat It."

While most of the tracks are live, the Jackson cover is a studio version featuring a special guest guitarist yet to be revealed, says Billboard.com - more info on the DVD

Great White Manager Being Released From Prison

BW*BK reports: According to Wpri.com, the man who set off the pyrotechnics that sparked a nightclub fire in 2003 that killed 100 people will be released from prison on March 19.

Daniel Biechele (BEEK'-lee) has been at the state prison since May 2006 for his role in the fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick.

The former tour manager of the 1980s rock band GREAT WHITE pleaded guilty to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter. Eight of the victims lived or worked in Connecticut. - more on this story

Queen of Disco Returns

Gigwise reports: Donna Summer is set to release her first album of new material in 17 years this May after signing a deal with Sony BMG's Burgundy Records.

The disco legend has started work on a project that currently goes by the name of 'Crayons' with a long list of collaborators including Danielle Brisebois, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem, Lester Mendez and Evan Bogart.

Speaking to Billboard she said: "My dream is that when people hear the music it will remind them of their youth, their childhood and the joy and wonderment they felt exploring their first pack of crayons." - more on this story

Cryptopsy Nix Tour Due to Broken Knee

Apesh*t reports: Extreme metal titans CRYPTOPSY have been forced to cancel their recently announced tour of South America in March, after drummer Flo Mounier broke his knee cap.

Mounier had completed the drum tracking process for the group's new album prior to the incident, so it did not affect the recording.

The tour of South America is expected to be re-scheduled later in 2008. CRYPTOPSY are currently putting the finishing touches on their sixth full-length, The Unspoken King, which will surface through Century Media this summer - more on this story

Yngwie Gets Ripped

Blabbermouth reports: As BLABBERMOUTH.NET exclusively reported earlier today, former JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH singer Tim "Ripper" Owens has now officially joined YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's band.

The legendary Swedish guitarist announced the news to the Guitar World staff today when he came to the magazine's New York headquarters for an exclusive interview and photo shoot.

Band Against MS Donated 25K To Research

PR reports: Multi-platinum country music star Clay Walker, along with his non-profit charity, Band Against MS recently presented Dr. Michael Levin with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis a check in the amount of $25,000. This gift was presented to assist the center in researching the cause of MS, as well as hopefully finding a cure.

"MS is a neurological disease that strikes people in the prime of life and affects approximately 2 million people worldwide," said Dr. Michel Levin. "We don't know its cause, and treatment provides only partial relief. That's why the donation from Band Against MS is so important. Although there is ongoing research about this disease, the cause has been elusive. This donation will allow us to "jump start" some new ideas about what causes MS. In turn, by understanding more about it, we will come closer to inventing new therapies, and hopefully, discovering a cure. We are very grateful for the opportunity this gift affords us."

Clay will also be taping a special episode of the Montel Williams Show on March 12th dedicated to the topic of multiple sclerosis, a condition they share. - more on this story

Fancy Myspace Music Tour

AM Exposure and Tour Dates

PR reports: AM will be performing March dates in Austin, Texas for SXSW 2008 and select dates with the Hotel Cafe Tour. Paste Magazine will feature AM's song "Old Song" in the April 2008 issue.

On March 29th, 2008 the hit television show ABC's "Greeks" will feature AM's song "Troubled Times". Tulsa born, New Orleans raised, AM has just written and produced a new EP "Side By Side - Duets EP Vol. 1" with guest performances from other Hotel Cafe/Los Angeles favorites including Rick Garcia, Meiko, Buddy, Tina Dico (Zero 7), Julianna Raye, and Susie Suh coming out on April 29, 2008.

AM recently finished co-scoring the film "Man Maid" with composer Tom Hiel (Swimming With Sharks, The Practice). Singer/ Songwriter and now film composer AM Showcased at the 10th annual ASCAP Music Cafe at the Sundance Film Festival 2008 which continues to be one of the most popular draws at the festival. Joy Division Doc Gets UK Release Date

NME reports: The eagerly awaited new documentary about Joy Division is to be released in the UK on May 2.

'Joy Division' was directed by Grant Gee, previously responsible for the acclaimed Radiohead 'OK Computer' tour documentary 'Meeting People Is Easy'.

The new documentary follows hot on the heels of Anton Corbijn 's movie 'Control', which was released in 2007, and concentrated its story on the band's tragic frontman Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in 1980.
