Green Day's Mike Dirnt Producing Indie Film

(Radio.com) Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt will take on another job when he signs on to produce the indie film Crickets. Dirnt, along with the band's manager Pat Magnarella, are attached to the project as producers, The Hollywood Reporter says.

The script is penned by Alfredo Botello, a friend to Dirnt for two decades. The film in currently in pre-production, with a crew not yet assembled. Other than production duties, Dirnt expects to contribute some music to the film.

The film's storyline focuses on two estranged brothers forced to come together when one is diagnosed with a terminal illness. "I'm just kind of tired of junk food movies," Dirnt told THR. "Here's something that's a feel good, feel bad and feel everything movie." more on this story
