Johnny Marr Releasing New Solo Album

. (Gibson) Johnny Marr is a busy man these days. Just last year the guitarist from The Smiths released his first solo album The Messenger to great acclaim from critics as well as fans.

Inspired by this recent success Marr just announced the release of his second solo album. Playland is scheduled for an October 7 release, and is said to continue in the same vein as The Messenger, with Marr once again collaborating with co-producer Doviak.

Said Marr in an official statement: "When The Messenger came out I kept on writing. I liked that the band had a momentum going on tour and a connection with the audience, and I thought that energy would be good to capture on the new record."

Not one to waste any time, Marr has already announced a UK tour in support of Playland that is set to start on October 13 in Lincoln. The tour includes stops in London at the O2 Academy Brixton, and a hometown gig at the O2 Apollo Manchester to mention a few, before wrapping up on October 29 at the O2 Academy Leeds. more on this story
