Tinashe Releases "Bated Breath" Video
. (Radio.com) Tinashe's new video finds her getting in touch with herself in the Mojave Desert. The nine-minute clip is composed entirely of Tinashe running, writhing, and crawling across the sand dunes. She's wearing what seems to be a flight suit: is she a lost pilot marooned on an alien world? We don't get any clear narrative, but whatever is going on, her dramatic glances intimate some pretty serious emotional turmoil. 'It was pretty DIY," said Tinashe of the video shoot in an interview with W Magazine. 'It wasn't a big production or anything." Tinashe financed the video herself: 'I don't like to sit around waiting for people to do things for me. So when I know my label's not going to produce music videos, I'll either make them myself or I'll find people that I think are cool and reach out to them directly. I'm like, 'Fk it. I'll just do it.'" The shoot pushed her to her limits: 'You have to fix your own hair, there's no catering, and there's no bathroom, but the challenges became benefits in this case, because they made the video a whole lot grungier. I was incredibly dirty, really dragging myself through the dirt. And it wasn't like I could shower before I had to drive home." Watch the video here.
