Day in Pop Report for 09/25/2012
We broke the story .. Lohan was rushed to the emergency room in NYC Sunday night with a lung infection ... but was released a short time later. Now, Lindsay's telling friends the arrest caused her so much anxiety, it landed her in the hospital -- exacerbating the "walking pneumonia" she's been suffering from the last few weeks. That's right, Lindsay is blaming stress for her damaged lungs ... Lindsay, the infamous chain smoker who blew through 49 packs of cigarettes in 47 days while she stayed at the Chateau Marmont this summer. more on this story
We broke the story ... the LAPD launched an investigation after a woman filed a report claiming the rapper smashed into her ride on Wednesday after a music video shoot and then fled the scene. Now, sources say Wiz actually hit 2 cars ... including a Lexus, which sustained serious damage to the front end. One source who was at the scene tells us the Chevy was leaving the video shoot when the driver punched the gas and lost control ... slamming into the Lexus, which caromed into another car. As we previously reported, the women in the 3rd car claims Wiz fled from the scene -- she has since filed a hit-and-run report with police. If he did run from the scene, it wasn't in his Chevelle -- we obtained video from the scene which shows a banged up car, which appears undrivable, being tended to right after the accident. See the photos here.
HCSD Public Information Officer Rusty Fleming is firing back at the singer after she publicly blasted 4 officers for allegedly mistreating her during her arrest for possession of hash and marijuana at a Texas border patrol stop last week. In a rambling statement at her concert following the bust, Apple had threatened to make the cops "f*cking famous" as a punishment for their inappropriate actions. Fleming has personally responded to the accusations with a letter to Apple. It starts off ... "First, Honey, I'm already more famous than you, I don't need your help. However, it would appear that you need mine." The letter continues, "Two weeks ago nobody in the country cared about what you had to say, -- now that you've been arrested it appears your entire career has been jump-started. Don't worry Sweetie, I won't bill you." "Next, have you ever heard of Snoop, Willie or Armand Hammer? Maybe if you would read something besides your own press releases, you would have known BEFORE you got here, that if you come to Texas with dope, the cops will take your DOPE away and put YOU in jail." "Even though you and I only met briefly in the hallway, I don't know you but I'm sure you're an awesome and talented young woman and even though I'm not a fan of yours, I am sure there are thousands of them out there, and I'm sure that they would just as soon you get this all behind you and let you go back to what you do bestso my last piece of advice is simple "just shut-up and sing." Sincerely
As we previously reported, the crowd in Baltimore erupted in a booming BS chant after believing the replacement refs blew another call. The chant went on for several minutes ... and at one point announcer Al Michaels called it the "loudest manure chant" he ever heard. Now, a rep for the FCC tells us the org. will not go after NBC ... explaining, "There's never been any penalties imposed for obscenities inadvertently heard over air." more on this story

Kingston began the charade in front of Boa this weekend ... when he rolled up to the steak joint in JB's chromed-out car and told photogs Justin had given it to him as a gift ... as a perk of their friendship. But sources close to the The Biebs tell TMZ Kingston's pants are COMPLETELY on fire -- truth is, Sean asked Justin if he could BORROW the car to go to dinner since Bieber is on tour ... and Justin obliged. Now, the car is back in Justin's garage -- and we're guessing Kingston's driving privileges have been suspended indefinitely. more on this story
Sources close to the production tell us ... Tasha Marbury is in final talks to join the show -- a much needed cast replacement after Royce, Jennifer and Kesha were all axed. We're told producers approached Tasha for two main reasons ... she's actually a basketball wife (she and Stephon married in 2002) ... and secondly she's already friends with some of the other "wives." Sources tell us, Tasha was previously asked to do season 1 of "BB Wives", except Stephon nixed the idea -- but now he lives in China part time playing for the Beijing Ducks ... and changed his tune. We're also told producers are still looking to fill a couple more spots. One of which might be Evelyn Lozada's -- considering she has yet to make decision about returning to the show. more on this story
As we reported, cops believe Creepa -- real name Thaddeus Chaylon Martin -- provided counterfeit U.S. bills to a female friend and had her buy a $145 cell phone at a SuperWalmart in Gainsville, FL. Once the woman bought the phone, Creepa allegedly took it to a different Walmart and returned the phone for legit cash. The woman told police she had no idea the money was bogus -- but Creepa tells us, that's a lie ... because she masterminded the operation, then pointed the finger at him when she got caught. According to Creepa, the woman -- whom he met a few days prior to his arrest during a club appearance -- asked him for a lift to Walmart to buy a phone, with her own cash, and never once mentioned she was using funny money. According to Creepa, he was totally unaware of her nefarious intentions ... and it wasn't until he was arrested that he realized what happened. Creepa adds, "That was my fault for giving someone a ride. You live and learn. It won't happen again." more on this story
Witnesses who spotted Amanda in NYC tell TMZ ... the actress was aimlessly wandering around mid-town for hours on Saturday. But get this -- Amanda is telling friends the reason she jetted off to New York ... is because she was tired of being followed in L.A. -- something she says doesn't happen in NYC. Bynes now tells friends she NEVER wants to come back to L.A, which is interesting timing considering her parents JUST moved to CA from TX to be closer to their daughter. TMZ broke the story ... Amanda was slapped with two counts of driving on a suspended license on Friday ... she faces up to 6 months in jail for each offense. more on this story
According to legal docs obtained by TMZ ... Tisha and Duane (an actor who starred in the ill-fated "Paul Reiser Show") took out a $625k home equity loan on a slick waterfront property in Lake Arrowhead, CA . However, at the time of the loan the couple still owed more than $730,000 on their mortgage to ANOTHER financial institution -- Aurora Bank. Long story short -- Tisha and Duane allegedly defaulted on BOTH loans. Earlier this year, Aurora foreclosed on the home ... and according to the docs, the bank sold it at auction for $925k. Aurora got paid first ... and sent the remaining $192k to CNS to partially satisfy the home equity loan, which had already ballooned to $633,119.52. City National is now going after Tisha and Duane for the balance ... plus interest. But Tisha and Duane are amgry -- a rep for the couple tells TMZ ... CNS is just trying to "bully" them for money they shouldn't have to pay. The rep points out that CNS received a $400 million government subsidy in 2009 to help people like the Tisha and Duane through the mortgage crisis ... and says, "In this case City National refused to share the significant benefit that they received with the Martins." The Martins are now threatening legal action against the bank -- claiming the bank discriminated against them. When asked about the nature of the alleged discrimination, the rep would not elaborate. more on this story
Richard Brun filed the lawsuit in Orange County, claiming Cage hired him last year in September ... then fired him two weeks later. It's unclear what Brun's specific duties were. According to Brun, Cage fired his ass "without any valid reason" then failed to pay him a chunk of the salary he was promised in his security contract. Brun says he was damaged to the tune of $115,000 as a result of Cage's crappy employment shenanigans -- and now, Brun's suing for AT LEAST that amount. more on this story
The mansion -- which Kobe deeded to her outright in January -- is listed for $3.75 mil ... that's over a million bucks more than Vanessa and Kobe paid back in 2003. Vanessa's mom, Sofia, has been living in the 6,000 square foot mansion. We don't know if she's moving in with Vanessa or moving elsewhere. more on this story
Answer: Depends on who you ask ... because two former game show contestants are now suing the people behind "Million Dollar Money Drop" claiming they guessed correctly ... but were hosed out of the $580k prize. TMZ obtained a lawsuit filed by Andrew and Patricia Murray ... who appeared on the Endemol-produced game show back in 2011. In the suit, the Murrays claim they wagered $580k after receiving the question: "According to the data security firm IMPERVA, what is the most common computer password?" The Murrays claim they guessed B, based on personal knowledge of surveys and articles and having read numerous studies on the Internet ... but they were told they were WRONG. On the show, which aired on FOX, they were told the answer was A ... and the Murrays lost their shot at the money. But in the suit, the Murrays claim they were tricked by Endemol producers ... because, "IMPERVA did not conduct its own objective survey of computer users but rather supports its assertion that 123456 is the most common password based on analysis of a hacking incident involving a website known as RockYou.com." FYI -- the hacking incident referenced in the suit occurred back in 2009. In the docs, the Murrays argue "If [they] would have known that the question was pertaining to a random, single incident ... they would have hedged their bets and played differently." The Murrays argue that they were "tricked" -- despite the fact they were promised there would be no "trick questions." Now, they're suing Endemol, FOX, and others for the $580k -- plus punitive damages and other fees. more on this story
The video was shot inside Stanley's Kitchen and Tap in Downtown Chicago -- showing Chicago Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios lighting Jay's jersey on fire while some hot chick dangles it from her fingers. One source inside the bar tells us Chris lit the jersey then said, Cutler's "nothing but a bitch." FYI -- Cutler has been under heavy fire in Chicago from Bears fans who think he's not just a terrible QB ... but a cancer in the locker room who's bringing down the team. Cutler's performance on Sunday didn't do much to win over his critics -- Jay had a very underwhelming performance in the Bears victory over the Rams ... throwing an interception and ZERO touchdowns. Watch video here.
TMZ broke the story ... a welder/water safety expert named Mike Bridger died on the L.A. movie set Friday while working inside a large water tank. Law enforcement sources tell us it appeared Bridger suffered a heart attack. Now, we've learned Cal/ Osha -- a workplace safety enforcement agency -- has launched an investigation to see if there was any negligence or wrongdoing on the part of Bridger's employer ... standard operating procedure following a death on a movie set. In other words, Cal/Osha will look into how workers responded once they realized Bridger was unresponsive -- Did they follow proper emergency protocol? Was there a proper emergency protocol? etc. A rep for Cal/Osha tells us the org. is also looking into the equipment and the tank ... and will also review the medical condition of the victim before his death. Cal/Osha will also conduct interviews with everyone who was on the set during the incident. We're told there have been no official findings yet, and the final report could take up to 6 months to complete. As we previously reported, Mike's friends and family also believe he died of a heart attack and do not blame the film for his death. more on this story
Q III had his production team follow Lil Wayne around for months to chronicle his life as he was putting together his album, "Tha Carter III." It appears Lil was on board, but things fell apart because the rapper hated the movie, calling it a "scandalous portrayal." Lil Wayne is grilled by Qunicy's lawyer, Pete Ross from the powerhouse law firm of Browne George Ross, who hammers Wayne about his criminal record, but the rapper claims he remembers nothing. And then there are the alleged threats Wayne makes against Pete Ross. Wayne says he wasn't threatening the lawyer. Watch it and decide for yourself.
