punkbands reports: A number of readers wrote
in with the sad news that Bomber Manzullo of RKL has passed away. Details
are scarce at present, but the news has been confirmed. RKL, or Rich Kids
on LSD was a fixture of the 90s Santa Barbara punk scene. Two members of
the band, guitarist Chris Rest and drummer Dave Raun, went on to join Lagwagon,
while Bomber joined Rest to form The Other. [see full story for more]-

live album, Hey, as the digital music service's millionth track. Frank

siN's metal news reports: Philadelphia based
SINGLE BULLET THEORY are near completion of their new untitled disc. The
record is shaping up to be much heavier then the bands previous release
"Behind Eyes of Hatred" (2004, Crash Music) and more in the realm of the
bands debut disc "Route 666" (2003, Crash Music). There has been no official
word as to what label will release the new disc but the band is in talks
with a few notable companies. For now, the band has leaked exclusively
to http://www.SMNnews.com an unmixed, unedited version of the song "Throes

is hosting a contest. It is presented by Island Records band Damone. They
are looking for the Ultimate Shredder! People that are tired of toiling
away at their day jobs and want to do nothing but play guitar!
They are asking people for videos of them
playing electric guitar. Contestants will be judged on a combination of
sound, skill, technique and passion. Winners will win a brand new Gibson
SG 61 Reissue guitar and a chance to appear in an upcoming Damone video.

Victory reports: Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights,
Bayside and Aiden played the final show of the Never Sleep Again Tour
to a sold out, screaming crowd at House of Blues last Sunday, then the
band headed north to Burlington, Ontario for some R&R. No sooner had
they arrived home that they reached a major milestone, breaking 100,000
albums sold in the US, according to Soundscan, landing them at #22 on the
Billboard Independent Chart. The band is also announcing a series of headlining
tour dates before they join Take Action Tour, followed by Taste of Chaos.
Choosing their friends and label mates Spitalfield, theAudition and Stretch
Armstrong as support acts, this mini-tour covers markets in the mid-west
and east coast. Those who have not witnessed the incendiary effect that
Silverstein has on their fans during shows should not miss the change to

MSO reports: The critically acclaimed Los
Angeles rock band FIREBALL MINISTRY will appear on NBC-TVs Last Call
With Carson Daly on Friday, December 16 (1:35 AM Eastern/Pacific). On
the special hour-long show, the band will perform Sundown, the thunderous
first single from their newly released THEIR ROCK IS NOT OUR ROCK (Liquor
& Poker Music) CD as well as King from their previous album The Second
Great Awakening (Nuclear Blast, 2003). FIREBALL MINISTRY are the first
music act to utilize pyrotechnics in their performance on the show since
it relocated to Los Angeles this fall. In other TV news, the video for
Sundown has just been added to MTV2s Headbangers Ball and will make

Day in Rock reports: A big shout out to Howard
Stern today (and not just because he linked us yesterday). If you haven't
been living under a rock you know that today marks the final day that the
King of All Media will be on the regular (e.g. regulated) airwaves. So
if you read this soon enough, be sure to tune in and see how many fines
he can collect on his final day! You'll soon be able to get all the Stern
you can handle on Sirius Satellite Radio. He begins broadcasting on January
9. (But the Howard 100 channel is already up and running.) In all seriousness,
congrats to Howard and much success on the big move which is sure to include
a lot more lesbians. Whether you like him or not, Stern changed the face
of radio and will likely take satellite radio to the next level. Check
