MTV reports: Seminal punk icon Richard Hell was essential in defining New York's '70s scene with tenures in Television, the Voidoids, the Neon Boys, the Heartbreakers and Dim Stars, so Rhino Records is going to give him his due with Spurts: The Richard Hell Story on August 2. Eu Music Biz?

Gigwise reports: The European Commission has put forward a proposal for a Europe-wide copyright and Licensing system for online music which aims to help European based online music services compete with those in the US.

Currently anyone interested in selling music downloads has to deal with 25 different licensing bodies in 25 different countries and as a result sales have lagged behind those in America. Last year, people spent an estimated 207 million euros (US$248 million) on music downloads in the US, compared to 27.2 million euros (US$32.5 million) in Europe.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

McMahon Recovering With Something Solo

Cornerstone reports: For those of you familiar with SOMETHING COROPORATE, Jack's Mannequin is Andrew McMahon's new band. As some of you may know Andrew is battling Luekimia and had to abrubtly stop touring due to his condition. Fortunately he was just released from the hospital late last week and is successfully recovering at home.

Rock Star Kick Off

CBS reports: Fifteen hopeful rock and roll performers move into the rock star mansion with the hope of becoming the new lead singer of the band INXS when ROCK STAR: INXS premieres with a special one-hour episode tonight, July 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

ROCK STAR: INXS will air the next performance show Tuesday, July 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) followed by the second elimination show on Wednesday, July 13 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT). reader submission reports: High Holy Days will be playing an acoustic performance on the mainstage at this years Sarnia Bayfest, on Friday, July 15th opening for Diamond David Lee Roth. Marc Arcand (vocals) and Dave Thompson (guitars) will be performing selected tracks from their debut album 'All My Real Friends' and from their forthcoming album acoustically.

High Holy Days formed in the fall of 2000 and quickly went from playing local bars around their home base of North Bay, Ontario, to clubs and festivals around the country. BRMC Fall Tour

antiMusic reports: The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has announced plans to hit North American venues this Fall. The band is touring in support of their forthcoming album "Howl" which hits stores on August 23rd. They will be taking along Mark Gardner of Ride as their opening act.
