R.Kelly
Guilty |
E! reports: A Chicago jury has returned a
guilty verdict in a sex-tape case involving R. Kelly. Just not that sex-tape
case.
Candid-camera enthusiast Kelly was merely
a costar in the trial that ended Monday with a Windy City gadfly convicted
in an extortion scheme targeting New York Yankees star Gary Sheffield.

Lennon
Killer TV |
Reuters reports: The man who murdered John
Lennon says in newly released audiotapes of interviews he gave more than
a decade ago that his compulsion to kill the rock icon was like a "runaway
train" and that "nothing could have stopped me." NBC said on Tuesday it
would present excerpts of the taped interviews with Mark David Chapman
as part of a two-hour documentary special set to air on Friday commemorating
the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death.[see full story for more]-

Blabbermouth reports: Lawyers for the owners
of a nightclub where 100 people died in a 2003 fire want criminal charges
against their clients tossed out because evidence was allegedly withheld
from a grand jury.

argued in court papers filed Monday (Nov. 14) that jurors should have been
told about a fax sent to prosecutors by a salesman who sold the insulating
foam involved in the deadly fire.[see full story for more]-

Jacko
Island |
hecklerspray reports: Michael Jackson has
apparently bought a $1.5 million plot on a Bond villain-style man-made
island in Bahrain, which he will make his permanent home.
It's unknown if Michael Jackson has chosen
to make Bahrain his home because he wants to escape the harsh scrutiny
of the American media in the fall-out from his child-molestation case,
or just because he wanted to cheese it away from all those freaky dove-releasing
nutters that follow him about and stuff.[see full story for more]-

Sony
Recalls "Infected" CDs |
tinfoil reports: It has been a busy couple
of weeks for Sony. First they get busted with not one, but two rootkits
on their audio CDs. They are then hit with lawsuits in Italy and the U.S.A.
and finally a virus has been spotted in the wild that takes advantage of
one of the rootkits ability to hide programs, processes and files from
the Windows PC user. Still, they've only made some half-hearted attempts
to fix the situation, with a half-baked patch and an uninstaller that the
user has to jump through hoops to get. They've also stopped making CDs
with these DRM schemes on them, yet they've not offered to replace the
CDs or pulled the CDs out of the market-place.
Well, that is, until now. [see full story

Special: Anti-Hero |
antiMusic reports: Mark's Hometown Heroes
globe trotting continues today with a trip to Ontario to check out Anti-Hero's
Unpretty. any band that combines the name of our site and Mark's
series has be covered in this special! Here is Mark:
As more and more time elapses, the concept
of gender roles is being slowly eroded away. Women have lobbied for better
rights for the female gender, and as such, progress has dictated much more
equality between men and women in general.
London, Ontario's Anti-Hero are an example
of the positive results of gender equality. This four piece of socially
aware rockers wear concepts like anti-conformity, female empowerment, equality,
and personal betterment on their sleeves like safety-pinned punk band patches.
Led by vocalist/guitarist/bassist Rose Perry, Anti-Hero strives to be just
that; an uplifting, life-affirming, and strong beacon of social change
and self-help that still trods on conventional ideas of heroism. Rounded
out by Nicole VanHaverbeke (backing vocals, bass, rhythm guitars), Matty
Cole (drums), and Jesse Tomes (lead guitars), Anti-Hero is a resounding
clarion call in direct response to punk/alternative/grunge rock's traditionally
prevailing nihilistic tendencies... see full story for more of this review!
