Panic
Channel Set Date |
Capitol reports: “If there was a channel that
showed nothing but hysteria and panic, it would be the highest-rated channel
on TV,” says guitarist Dave Navarro. “We like to think of creating music
as a way to channel the panic into something tangible.”
The “we” refers to Navarro, drummer Stephen
Perkins, bassist Chris Chaney and lead singer Steve Isaacs. The four comprise
The Panic Channel. (ONe), the band’s debut album, isn’t due out until September
12th, but they’ll be previewing songs from it on their upcoming spring
tour. And on May 16th, the day the tour launches, a two-song digital-only
release will become available featuring “Why ry,” the lead single from
the forthcoming CD, and “Tea House Of The Spirits,” another album track.

The DJ Know? |
Rock Ridge reports: The Rock-Pop singer/songwriter
Alison Ray turns triumphant, furious, heartbroken and hopeful on her Chime
Entertainment debut record, Downside Up. The powerful collection of self
penned songs demonstrates a wide range of emotions and shows off a very
distinctive, strong and revealing radio voice. The disc’s title reflects
her determnination to find the good in even the worst of life’s situations.
Working with Writer/Producer and Chime
President Marc Tanner, Ray delved deep into her experiences to craft this
collection of songs. There is fantasy and passion in the driving lead single,
Does the D.J. Know, an edgy story of hope in the anthemic, There’s Always
Tomorrow, bittersweet optimism in Wonderful Day and the classic grandeur
of Love is the Thing. “When I go into the studio, I create a world where
I can explore and try many different approaches to each vocal and capture
the mood of each song. It’s almost like acting and becoming a character.
“ Ms. Ray admidts, “I’m a perfectionist, so sometimes it takes awhile to
get it right. But I’m really satisfiedall the performances on this record.”[see

Byzantine
Hates God |
Press Release reports: West Virginia's forward-thinking
thrashers Byzantine recently entered the studio to record a cover song
for an upcoming upcoming Eyehategod tribute album. Lead guitarist Tony
Rohrbough offers this update:
"Hi everyone. Just a quick update here
to let everyone know what’s up. While most of you were chowing down on
some Easter dinner last Sunday, we were in the studio. We went back to
Aaron Fisher’s 101 Productions Studio, where we recorded our previous albums
and recorded a cover song for an upcoming Eyehategod tribute album. We
recorded 'Shoplift' from their Take as Needed for Pain album. I really
like the way it turned out. It sounds absolutely nothing like us but it
also does in some ways. Sludgy-as-all-hell-stoner-doom. You’ll just have
to hear it. We don’t have a release date on the album at this time but
whenever it comes out, we’ll be selling copies at our shows. Until then,
you’ll just have to bug one of us to let you hear it." [see full story

Ott-a Know Carey Ott |
antiMusic reports: If you haven't heard the
name Carey Ott yet... don't worry, you will. You may have already heard
his music. Music Choice has the song "Am I Just One" in heavy rotation
and the song made a splash when it was featured in the January 22nd episode
of "Grey's Anatomy". The song went over so well Hollywood records will
include the track on the forthcoming soundtrack for the show. Grey fans
can hear the song again on May 7th. We won't mention Ott being singled
out by iTunes as a buzz band for this year's SxSW music conference.
Ott has a lot of momentum behind him as
he gears up for the release of his new album "Lucid Dream" on June 26th
by Dualtone Music Group. That momentum just received a new injection when
Ott was selected to open Thomas Dolby's first tour in 15 years. The ten
date tour kicks off on May 4th in New York City and concludes with a two
night stand in Chicago on May 17th. [see full story for more]-
