Zakk
Suit Fall Out |
KNAC reports: A not-so-low-profile lawsuit
brought by Black Label Society founder/guitarist Zakk Wylde against 357
Customs for false advertising, breach of contract and a host of other charges
has lead to the resignation of the Wylde's webmaster.
BLS Webmaster Chad Dyer has issued the
following statement regarding his resignation:... Based on recent events
related to the 357 Customs promotion, Zakk has requested that I resign
as webmaster of zakkwylde.com, and in respect of his wishes, I have agreed
to resign.... To clear up some confusion, I want to acknowledge that while
I was acting as webmaster for zakkwylde.com, I was hired by 357 Customs
to be its webmaster. I didn’t realize that this would create a conflict
of interest, and I didn’t clear it with Zakk, his management or anyone
else in the BLS camp. When Daniel Baugess asked me to post a promotion
for 357 Customs on zakkwylde.com, I assumed the promotion was legitimate
and would not be a problem...[see full story for more]-

Bigger
Than Star Wars? |
PR reports: “While other bands want to be
bigger than Metallica, DragonForce,” says Metal Hammer Magazine, “have
the capacity to be bigger than Star Wars.” Last week metal heroes DragonForce
debuted at #1 on the Heatseekers Top New Artist Chart with 9,672 units
sold of Inhuman Rampage, their latest US release and first for Roadrunner
Records. Concurrently debuting at #103 on Billboard Top 200 Chart, Inhuman
Rampage, in its first week alone, has already out-scanned Valley of the
Damned and Sonic Firestorm’s US cumulative sales, proving that the ‘Force
is more powerful than ever. This week the band only saw a 24% drop (typical
drop for metal bands is 60%) with 7,348 albums scanned, good enough for
#2 on the Top New Artist Chart. As the band performs on Ozzfest’s mainstage
and headlines their own off-dates, the ‘Force is sure to continue building
in strength and numbers through the rest of the year.[see full story for

Digital
Mitchell |
PR reports: Texas country outfit The Travis
Mitchell Band released a 3-song digital-only EP of new tracks entitled
“The Show” on June 27th. The EP is available via all standard digital distribution
portals. The band, who recently signed to Rock Ridge Music, will also be
releasing their full-length debut, “Forget What’s Wrong,” nationally this
fall.
The TMB is a result of what happens when
you combine a huge Texas Music fan, a Heavy Metal hipster and a Music Scholar
with a degree in Jazz. While this band’s roots are planted firmly within
Texas Country, their live performance is a mix of heart-pounding rock with
a country flare that is unmistakable. This young band (Travis Mitchell
– vocals, rhythm guitar), Jonathon Bryant (bass), Josh Rocha (guitar),
Mykell Morris (drums) - has accomplished much over the course of a year,
already sharing the stage with some of Texas' favorite bands, like Cory
Morrow, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, and Roger Creager
to name a few. Counting among his influences Jack Ingram, Johnny Cash,
Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Radney Foster, and many others, Mitchell has developed
his musical style and voice in venues throughout Texas.-

Mahavatar
US Release |
PR reports: Escapi Music will release the
stateside debut of pan-world metal band Mahavatar, From the Sun, the Rain,
the Wind, the Soil, on August 15th. It’s an album that sounds as organic
as its name implies, juxtaposing unique rhythmic thrusts against odd percussive
latitudes. The two women at its core—vocalist Lizza Hasan (Israel) and
lead guitarist Karla Williams (Kingston, Jamaica)—are a very special tandem
of talent. Flanked by guitarist Shahar (Israel), bassist Szymon (Poland)
and drummer Eran Asias (Israel), Lizza and Karla have fine-tuned their
rather individualistic and eclectic dreamscape of sound into an anthemic
metal statement for the ages.
From metal aficionados to alternative curiosity
seekers, the CD—previously released only in Europe with a different mix,
mastering, title, personnel and two less cuts—is a testament to the spirituality,
aggression, musicianship and fortitude of the two women at the helm of
Mahavatar.[see full story for tracks]- Click

Del
the Funky Homosapien |
PR reports: It's been six years, but Del the
Funky Homosapien is finally back. Underground hip-hop stalwarts Hiero Imperium
announce they will release the first ever DVD from the enigmatic rapper
in late summer. The DVD's title, The 11th Hour, reads like a tongue-in-cheek
nod to the break since Del's last release. "The 11th Hour refers to the
last minute, or things that happen in the nick-of-time. People want to
enforce time on others, but it's really out of our hands." The DVD features
concert footage of Del classics, as well as a look at Del in his element
at his home studio.... in stores 7/18/06, see the full story for taste.-
