Clarification: This shouldn't be
needed but the little aside about the mystery Ozzfest second stage band
we posted on Friday where we said our bet was on Clay Aiken WAS A JOKE.
Half a dozen Clay Aiken fan sites reported it as news and some fans were
even arguing about how it made sense with Clay wanting to do something
different. While Sharon has been known to go for trends etc (thus
the basis of the joke) Clay on Ozzfest is probably too big a stretch even
for her. [Although Crazy Town and Clay have more in common than they'd
like to admit] So don't worry Clay fans, your little Muppet won't be torn
to shreds by metalheads this summer. [and as a general rule, anything
added within these brackets is typically sarcasm. While that was obvious
in this case (and most cases), it just goes to show you that they'll believe
anything…]
Weiland
Slashed By Former GNR Manager |
Day in Rock reports: Metal Sludge has posted
a rather interesting statement that reportedly came from Guns N' Roses
former manager Alan Niven. Here is an excerpt but you'll have to click
the full story to read it all.
"Categorically, Slash is utterly accurate
- Mr. Weilland is, in my personal opinion, a clueless posturing fraud,
of no particular or obvious abilities, including, and most apparently,
composition. The band is a thorough waste of a truly great guitar player
and terrific rhythm section. [their output has been entirely forgettable
and one dimensional].
"As for Mr. Rose, I have no doubt he is
still genuinely and profoundly gifted, and it is self evident that he has
provided more insight and memorability in a single line of composition
than Mr. Weilland has managed in an entire career.
"For the record, Mr. Rose wrote the majority
of the melodies and lyrics on the guns records, which include the best
selling rock debut of our times, with 16,000,000 sold in the United States
alone."[see full story for more]- Click

Borland
Vs Durst |
Day in Rock reports: Wes Borland posted a
Myspace Blog in responce to Fred Durst's "free style" song posting that
took aim at Wes and he's recent comments that the Bizkit might be over.
Here is part of what Wes had to say.
I am actually going to respond to you guys
AND Fred. Here it goes:
It is a shame to have things once again
come to head because of lack of communication between two people. Was I
right to speak for everybody in Limp? Probably not. But I thought the fans
deserved to know what was going on at least from my perspective. After
years and years of dealing with each other, it seems that Fred and I still
have not figured out how to keep it positive. I'm to blame, he's to blame.
It sucks. We never talk. So, it's hard to ever know what's really going
on. I still stand behind everything I've said. LB doing something is as
much news to me as it is to everybody else. If Fred is making music, that's
great, more power to him, but I wasn't aware. So, here we are now.[see

Zombie
Vs Haters |
Rockdirt reports: Rob Zombie recently took
part in a Q&A with Decibel magazine, where he lashed out at message
board "haters". Asked if he's ever gone online to see what people are saying
about him on message boards, the veteran rocker responded, "I have a couple
of times, but that's bad news. I'm just baffled by how things function
these days - not because I don't understand it, but because when I was
a kid, everything was about why you liked something. You were obsessed
with it, and you couldn't wait to get more. Now there's like this subculture
of haters - people who wanna complain about everything and tell you why
it's wrong. [see full story for more]- Click

Curse Lennon Film |
Rockdirt reports: Black Sabbath drummer Bill
Ward is blasting the upcoming film 'Chapter 27', which casts Jared Leto
as Mark David Chapman, the killer of Beatles legend John Lennon. "Just
got the sh** news that there's going to be a movie about the asshole who
shot John Lennon," Ward writes. "As a Lennon fan [and] admirer, I can't
believe that this film is coming out on general release. I object completely
that we have available to us a movie about a guy who robbed millions of
people of so much, who stamped out a brilliant mind, and who broke apart
a family. When John Lennon died, my heart broke, and I've never gotten
over his death, and I know that millions of other people got hurt also.
Whoever is responsible for this movie, the money, the producers, the cast,
the music, I fail to see how you can participate in anything that could
bring more infamy to an already infamous murderer, robber and pain-bringer.
I curse this movie[see full story for more]- Click
