Game Show Singer Changes Classic Zeppelin Lyrics
Telegraph.co.uk reports: Led Zeppelin's rock classic "Whole Lotta Love" has been deemed too racy by Olympics organizers. After choosing the song for the closing ceremony on Sunday, they decided that some of the lyrics would have to be omitted or re-written amid concerns that they could cause offense.

Organizers of the London 2012 Games commissioned the band's guitarist Jimmy Page to record a new version of the song to be performed on top of a special red double-decker bus accompanied by Leona Lewis, winner of the ITV reality television show "The X Factor", with David Beckham looking on. (Blabbermouth has a video of the performance, you can check it out here)

But, according to London 2012 officials, Lewis requested a change to the song's second verse because she was worried they would not make sense for a female singer. In the original, recorded in 1969, frontman Robert Plant sings, "I'm gonna give you every inch of my love". - more on this story

See Who Plans To Have Fun Fun Fun
PR reports: Transmission Entertainment is proud to announce this year's Fun Fun Fun Festival line-up. In the tradition of years past, FFF '08 once again teams punk rock legends with the hottest indie buzz bands, crowd-pleasing dance and hip-hop acts, and cutting-edge comedians. Fun Fun Fun Fest will be held November 8 and 9 at Waterloo Park in downtown Austin, TX.

Unlike other festivals held in the dead summer heat, Fun Fun Fun Fest is the premier fall festival - the perfect ending to an ever-growing summer festival season. In an effort to keep things, well, fun, festival planners are eyeing a circus tent of events, including a dunking booth with members of bands and other "celebrities." The Altercation Punk Rock Comedy troupe, Coldtowne Comedy Hour, Tim and Eric of Adult Swim's Tim and Eric Awesome Show and other comedy acts will also be on hand to entertain festival-goers looking for a break from the music.

Joining headliners Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The National and Minus the Bear on the main stage are Atmosphere, St. Vincent, Deerhoof, Bishop Allen, locals Trail of Dead, Jim Ward's (Sparta) countrified Sleepercar, and a host of other hot new acts. - more on this story

All Systems Go Again for Rocket From The Crypt
PR reports: Rocket From The Crypt will be releasing their third installment of the All Systems Go series on Vagrant August 26, 2008. All Systems Go III features 20 "lost master" 8-track demos recorded in San Diego, CA.

"It's violent, aggressive and thuggish stuff," says Speedo, aka frontman John Reis, "and to me sounds much better now in retrospect than when we originally were recording these demos. I am really psyched about it. Thematically, musically, etc., it's all very period to an undocumented part of the bands history. I hope you take it for what it is and enjoy it on that level. I really believe if the band was still around, we would make a record at least sonically similar to ASG 3."

All Systems Go III features 20 tracks that were recorded on a Tascam 8-Track tape machine in the Rocket From The Crypt practice space, aka 'Manville', aka 'Drag Racist Studio' between 1997-2000. Speedo believes that "despite the miscues, clams, muck-ups, bloopers, etc inherent on this disc, this is the RFTC recording for today."

Tribe After Tribe Set Release
PR reports: South African rockers Tribe After Tribe have announced an October 14th, 2008, release date for their upcoming album, M.O.A.B. Stories from Deuteronomy. The album will be released on Rodeostar Records, distributed by Megaforce's MRI unit. Produced by Bingo Richey, Eric Ryan, and Robbi Robb, the album is sure to be the band's most powerful yet!

Frontman Robbi Robb commented on the new album: "Put down the guns, put down the books, put away the pointing fingers of blamecome away from the temples and into the fields, and there let us work together to eradicate disease and poverty from the face of the Earth. This is the "Mother Of All Battles'."

Continuing the work they began in South Africa more than two decades ago, Tribe After Tribe fuses unique world rock elements with ringleader Robbi Robb's incisive, intelligent lyrical dreamscapes, exposing the evil forces of Apartheid and its ideological brethrenforces that remain with us today, perhaps more so than ever before. The message in the music is not, however, a political one, but rather a simple signpost pointing to the common ground of the human heart which we all share; a place where all gunfire is, in essence, "friendly fire."

See Sondre Lerche in Real Life
PR reports: Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche is gearing up for an exclusive string of west coast North American tour dates. The dates kick off on August 22nd in San Diego and end with a play at the Bumbershoot Festival on September 1st.

Lerche's most recent work was on the original soundtrack for the film Dan In Real Life. The soundtrack featured 13 tracks recorded exclusively for the movie, including four new songs penned by Lerche and seven cue tracks from the score, which he composed as well. "The thing about Sondre's music is that it feels timeless to me," says Peter Hedges, the film's director. "There's a depth to it and you feel that this is a man who believes in love. The music is just infused with that feeling without being sappy or sentimental- which made it a complete dream for this story."

Lerche, still only in his mid-twenties will be playing tunes from the soundtrack as well as from his vast catalogue, which includes 4 studio albums and several EPs. Entertainment Weekly said his last studio album Phantom Punch "Evokes '80s Britpop at its zenith, with Duran Duran-ish guitars and synths underpinning lyrically self-aware ditties like the title track." To which Lerche says "I didn't want to be subtle this time around, I wanted every song to jump out of the speakers - punchy, concise pop songs, played with restless spirit." - more on this story

Acony Records Announce Debut Artist
PR reports: Acony Records is proud to announce the debut of the Los Angeles-based band The Whispertown 2000. Featuring Morgan Nagler (lead vocals, guitar), Tod Adrian Wisenbaker (guitar), Casey Wisenbaker (bass) and Vanesa Corbala (vocals), The Whispertown 2000 is the first band to be signed to Gillian Welch and David Rawlings' Acony Records. Entitled Swim, the record will be released on October 21st. It was recorded by Tom Monohan (Devendra Banhart, Vetiver) and mixed by Shawn Everett and Rawlings.

Nagler always kept to herself, only playing her songs for friends at their houses, until she met guitarist Tod Adrian Wisenbaker, who grew up playing in punk, folk, and hardcore bands in Ventura, California. They began playing shows around Los Angeles, and over the next few years they rounded out the lineup with Wisenbaker's brother on bass, and singer Corbala, who was born in Tijuana and grew up singing traditional Mexican music. These additions allowed the band to experiment with the instrumentation between Corbala and the Wisenbaker brothers trading off on drums, bass, guitar, harp, and vocals. The Whispertown 2000's vibrant live shows have scored them opening slots with Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, Maria Taylor, She & Him, and Bright Eyes. - more on this story

. Dave Matthews Band: In Memory of LeRoi Moore
LeRoi Moore was a man who realized his dream and while his passing is devastating, we need to celebrate how he lived his life and the art he has left behind for future generations to enjoy and commemorate. (5 stars) - Read the full Dave Matthews Band: In Memory of LeRoi Moore review

. Jesse James Dupree - Rev it Up and Go-Go
And for crying out loud, did this guy seriously bait his longtime fans with eight rock tracks, and then switch to this country crap halfway through? - Read the full Jesse James Dupree - Rev it Up and Go-Go review

. Burzum Anthology
This particular anthology feels like it is a few Vikings short of a straight up raiding party. This is a solid enough introduction for rookie Burzum fans, but others looking for a rounded collection will probably be safest surfing their back catalogs for a private mix. - Read the full Burzum Anthology review
