PR reports: With sadness Kittie has confirmed
the departure of bassist Trish Doan due to a severe medical condition.
Doan has been diagnosed with the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa,
which she developed during the recording of Kittie's "Funeral for Yesterday,"
Doan's first release with the group.
"It breaks my heart to say goodbye to this
family that has given me the best two years of my life," Doan said. "I
wish my time with Kittie did not have to end, but this decision was made
based on doctors' orders. Unfortunately this is the only option that will
allow for my full recovery."
Doan has been battling the disease for
nearly two years. "Trish is a part of our family and her talents and friendship
will be missed by all of us," said Tara McLeod and sisters Mercedes and
Morgan Lander. "We are continuing to be respectful and supportive of Trish's
needs during her period of healing. We wish her the best on her road to
recovery and will remain close to her throughout this difficult time."-

antiMusic reports: Lou Pearlman is now not
only guilty of foisting crap boy bands on the world, he is guilty of shady
business deals. Which some could argue is the same principle at work. Reuters
has the story: Lou Pearlman, the music mogul who launched the Backstreet
Boys and 'N Sync, has agreed to plead guilty and make restitution to victims
swindled out of an estimated $300 million in phony bank and investment
schemes, U.S. prosecutors said on Tuesday.
Pearlman admitted in a plea agreement that
for 20 years he enticed people and banks to invest millions of dollars
in two companies that existed only on paper: Transcontinental Airlines
Travel Services Inc. and Transcontinental Airlines Inc.
Pearlman is scheduled to enter his plea
on Thursday in a U.S. court in Orlando. The charges carry a maximum of
25 years in prison and a $1 million fine. - more

PR reports: KoRn guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer
announces plans to release a new project entitled FEAR AND THE NERVOUS
SYSTEM due out August 8, 2008. The record will be released on his own label,
EMOTIONAL SYPHON RECORDINGS.
The band features James Christian Shaffer
("Munky") on guitars and vocals; Billy Gould (Faith No More), bass; Wes
Borland (Black Light Burns), guitars; Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion, Tenacious
D), drums and percussion; Leopold Ross, programming and guitars; Zach Baird,
keyboards and programming. The album will be produced by Shaffer, Ross,
and Jim Monti, with additional production by Tim Harkins, Leopold Ross
and Danny Lohner (NIN)
Famed producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot,
KoRn) comments: "What can I do to ever come close to feeling James's level
of pure ruthless courage through a guitar? Since I've worked with him,
I've tried to inspire, convince, beg, bleed, cry, prod and nearly die,
hoping to hit that bar with others. I'm grateful to know what 'it' is,
and where it always existsin my brother, James. His solo band? Yes, please!"-

antiMusic reports: "It's not like me to say
sore-y, And I've been wrong, been to the bottom of every bottle, this is
how you convict me." That may be the new tune Nickelback's frontman will
be singing in jail along with the Police classic "Every Breath You Take".
Jam! has the story: A B.C. provincial court judge has dealt a blow to Nickelback
frontman Chad Kroeger's defence, saying police legally obtained the accused
drunk driver's breath samples.
His lawyer, Marvin Stern, argued an RCMP
officer conducted an unlawful search when he asked Kroeger to blow into
his face after detecting the smell of alcohol and that the evidence should
be excluded.
Stern also argued the Mountie stayed far
too long at the scene with Kroeger while arrangements were made to tow
the Lamborghini and failed to obtain two further breath samples "as soon
as practicable" as required by the Criminal Code. But provincial court
Justice Peder Gulbrandsen disagreed, saying the obligation to obtain samples
as soon as practicable does not mean they be obtained as soon as possible-

antiMusic reports: Ozzy has some metal fans
scratching their heads at the former Prince of Darkness turned reality
TV clown. In a new interview Ozzy blasts the use of the term "Heavy Metal,"
saying it has no musical connotation. However, he uses the term rock n'
roll several times in this interview.
The New Zealand Herald asked Ozz several
questions including this one about his influence: What influence do you
think the classic Sabbath albums and Ozzy albums like Diary Of A Madman
have had on today's music?
Ozzy: "You know, we had success from the
word go. We never had to wait. You know, we formed in '68, then had a bit
of a booze up touring thing in '69, recorded the first Sabbath album in
1970 in 12 hours or something and it just took off and it's never stopped
for me. So when you're immersed in something it's hard to say. Plus, I
hate that f*cking phrase heavy metal. It's got no musical connotation what
so ever."- read

antiMusic reports: The Starting Line made
the following announcement today: This is one of the most difficult decisions
we've had to make but after eight years of nonstop touring and recording
The Starting Line will be taking a break after their headline tour with
Bayside, Four Year Strong and Steel Train (March 18 April 20) and the
college shows following the tour.
This break does NOT mean the band is breaking
up or going on hiatus it just means were going to stop for a little while
and focus on other things in our lives besides The Starting Line. This
break may last a year, two years or a few months, as of right now we don't
know.
We're talking to some friends about doing
a quick tour to South America as well as options to tour Europe, Japan
and Australia again and we're not ruling them out. We just aren't going
to be doing any full time touring or recording as The Starting Line for
a while.- more
