Something To Burn Premiere Stone Temple Piloted Video
PR reports: Something To Burn are premiering the clip for 'Say Goodbye,' a modern rocker about letting go and moving on. It's filled with plenty of dark imagery, appropriate for any metal clip: black hair, black leather, black and red walls.

"I really dig the way it teases you at first by just giving glimpses of body parts and gear, with occasional quick looks at the band, and slowly builds into a glorious climax that reveals all of us rockin' the ---- out," Something To Burn's Greg Wayne says of the band's new video for 'Say Goodbye.'

Saying the guys in Something To Burn are big fans of Stone Temple Pilots would be an understatement. Soon, the bands will hit the road together, and Something To Burn is also signed to Weiland's Softdrive Records. When it came time to plot a video single, Weiland again came to the rescue.

"We've always loved the look and vibe inside Scott Weiland's recording studio, so when we decided to do a performance video for 'Say Goodbye,' we asked him if we could shoot it there. Although he's tracking vocals for the new STP record in there, he was cool enough to let us have the space for a couple days," Wayne explains.

'Say Goodbye' is featured on the album 'Transitions.' - View the video here

Black Sheep Wall Offspring Noriega Go Desolo In December
PR reports: Upstart label Viable Records is proud to announce the group's first release: Noriega's 'Desolo,' December 8. Boasting members of Los Angeles buzzband Black Sheep Wall.

Melding the heaviest of the doom bands with licks reminiscent of pseudo-jazz as much as they combine hardcore riffing with meaningful imagery and lyrical poetry in, all in tandem with originality Black Sheep Wall only briefly displayed, Noriega should be a welcome addition to the pool of talent in the extreme metal world years after the worlds of metal and hardcore started to combine, evolve, branch, and inspire.

"We all went through Daniel's passing," Thompson says of the recent passing of Admiral Angry's Daniel Kraus during the writing process of 'Desolo,' one of the band's collective close friends. "It's definitely a negative energy on the album for that reason among many others. But, we don't want it to be saying it's hopeless. Not only with the lyrics, but also with the music, there's definitely an awkward vibe [for the band], but we wrote these songs in context to a series of less than ideal circumstances; like you don't relate to anyone, that you're more alone than you will ever realize. That's what we tried to do with these songs." - more on this story

Vic Mizzy, The Addams Family and Green Acres Theme Song Writer, Dead at 93
howling wuelf reports: Vic Mizzy, 93, the Brooklyn-born songwriter who wrote the catchy theme songs to The Addams Family and Green Acres, but also dozens of #1 pop hits like "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time," "Pretty Kitty Blue Eyes" and "The Whole World Is Singing My Song," as well as such novelty hits like "With a Hey and a Hi and a Ho-Ho-Ho," "No Bout Adout It" and "Choo n" Gum," passed away in Los Angeles Saturday night. His songs were performed by artists including Dean Martin, Doris Day, Perry Como, Billie Holiday and the Andrews Sisters. The always self-effacing Mizzy liked to joke about his popular TV themes, still heard to this at sports arenas and in TV spots.

"If people only remembered me for the themes to The Addams Family and Green Acres, I wouldn't care," he'd say. "Two snaps got me a Bel Air mansion." A savvy businessman, Mizzy held on to his publishing copyrights, including those to his famed TV theme songs.

Vic learned how to play from the player piano his family bought for $200, becoming a professional at the age of 14, when he won a pair of radio contests and toured the vaudeville circuit on the east coast. In the early '40s into the '50s, he penned songs that were recorded by some of the biggest stars in show business. After the war, NBC head of programming David Levy had Mizzy write scores for several dramatic TV shows, including the Richard Boone Anthology, Dennis Weaver's Kentucky Jones and Hank, then did his famed theme songs for The Addams Family and Green Acres, as well as contributing to the scores of Mr. Ed, F Troop and Petticoat Junction.

Army Navy Announce CMJ Shows
PR reports: LA's Army Navy released their self-titled debut album on their own label, The Fever Zone, in late 2008, an album that NPR described as "a Posies-and Teenage Fanclub-style tsunami of melody and distortion that underscores the youthful essence of power-pop in all its bittersweet glory.

After an appearance on last year's famed "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" soundtrack and a 7" release on Fierce Panda's Fandango Records in the UK, the band is currently taking some time writing and recording material for their second LP due out early next year.
