Steven Tyler Rips Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab |
Tyler, who has famously battled his own addictions over the year, recounts in his new autobiography, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?," that we was in a Los Angeles area rehab at the same time former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler and Tyler alleges that Adler was "told to fake his drug stupor for the 'Celebrity Rehab,'" according to Reuters.
"They wanted him to act out his own messed-up state when he entered rehab. It was ghoulish and unreal. They gave him 30 grand for the episode, he snorted it all, crashed his car, and he ended up in jail detox," Tyler wrote.

Adler Says Axl Rose Misunderstood |
"It's really up to Axl [Rose]," Adler said. "The ball's in his court. He gets a lot of flack for People think he doesn't care, but it's the complete opposite he cares so much that he takes it to another level. He's a superstar."
Adler believes that the general public misunderstands Rose, who Adler says cares deeply about each and every GN'R performance. "He demands so much out of himself. There's been times we've been on stage and he's gotten so angry with himself I know it seems crazy, and it is a little crazy that he would leave the stage. He's such a perfectionist that if he felt like he wasn't doing his best, he would freak, he would get upset with himself. He's not mad at the world, he's just a perfectionist who gets mad at himself. But he's the greatest."

Coheed and Cambria Plotting Next Move |
"It's a real ode to our fans, our hardcore fans," guitarist Travis Stever told Billboard. "It's one of the better shows we've gone out with in a really long time. We're always ready to stimulate the ears and the eyes, but on this one we wanted to make it really special."
As for the group's next creative endeavor, Stever said the ideas are already flying around Camp Coheed. "I think there's a lot of ideas floating around nothing set in stone, which there shouldn't be yet," he said. "Claudio has written quite a few songs that he doesn't know what they're going to be for. They could be Coheed. I've been working on stuff, everybody's working on music constantly, so there's ideas all over the place. Once we get together as a band and work those ideas out, we'll see what happens. I have a feeling whatever the band decides to do, it's going to be great."

As an actor Van Zandt is best known as Silvio Dante in The Sopranos. Speaking from Norway, he recently told the Daily Record: "The Sopranos was one of those things. We had a really good run and you couldn't be too sad about it. I mean, we did seven seasons in 10 years and 10 years is a big chunk of your life. "It was probably time to move on. I wouldn't have, of course. I would have played that gangster for the rest of my life. I loved that character. In fact, I loved it so much, I took this other job playing a gangster here in Norway."
Van Zandt explained the outline of his character. "I play a New York gangster who goes into the witness protection program and chooses Lillehammer, Norway," he said. "It was such a good idea because Norway is a very straight place. It is a real monoculture of five million people."

Singled Out: Oh No Fiasco's Stand In Lover |
The musical idea actually happened after a writing session one afternoon. We were all just lounging around, some of us getting ready to leave for the night, and Seth started with this sort of minor tapping riff. We all got up and went right back to our instruments and hammered out the core essentials of the song in about an hour and a half. It was one of the first songs we wrote that gave more of a sexy dance ambiance, and we wanted to create the lyrical content around the same energy that we had felt with the music.
The lyrics portray a very independent and sensual individual who is out to have a good time, and follows her through the course of the evening. It's the epitome of sensuality and ultimately sexuality, and describes the transience of both.
I think that the ebb and flow of the music builds a fun yet dark and ominous canvas for the lyrics to paint over. The song takes you for a journey and tugs at your emotions in a number of ways.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Michael Stipe Tried To Save Kurt Cobain's Life |

The Beatles Inspired The End of Seinfeld |
"The Beatles ended too soon for me, and it was also nine years," said Seinfeld. "That hunger for The Beatles has lasted my whole life. Whenever a Beatles song comes on the radio I reach for the volume and turn it up, because I still haven't gotten enough of them. That was really how I made the decision."
Seinfeld said that urge to leave the crowd wanting more can be found in another musical source, as well. "Somebody said to me, that's what makes Mark Knopfler such an amazing guitarist. He doesn't play quite as much as you want him to. You know, you just want him to play more, and he doesn't. You know? And that's what makes you love it."

Queensryche Explain New Album |
"Modern life moves fast," commented frontman Geoff Tate about the album. "Plug into the rhythm of the now with our 12th studio album, 'Dedicated to Chaos.' It's a clash and slash of musical experimentation anchored by the pulse of digital code. Enjoy headphones are a must."
"It's kind of like an 'Empire' record set 25 years in the future," Tate recently told Paul Anthony of U.K.'s Rock Radio. "It's a very listenable record, I think. I think people will find it interesting to listen to on headphones, especially. There's a lot going on with it. And there's definitely an emphasis on the rhythm section. Eddie [Jackson, bass] and Scott [Rockenfield, drums] have written a lot of the songs on this particular record, so it really showcases what they do, which is something very special. This record is definitely a boundary-pusher in a lot of respects, I think. It's always difficult to describe music; it's better to experience it. So I'll let people hear it and make up their own minds."

Dave Grohl Forever A Foo Fighter |
"I didn't take lessons to learn how to play guitar," he said. "I have a chord book and figured out to read the simple chord charts and I had The Beatles' Anthology and put on those greatest hits records and played along all day long. That's kinda where I learned how to play guitar but that's also where I learned to understand basic composition: verse, chorus, verse, arrangement. I started playing guitar when I was about 10 and I started the drums when I was maybe about 13/14; even with the drums I just learned how to play on a bed I didn't have a drum set I just had pillows and would listen to records and play along. I don't play conventional chords, sometimes I'll write riffs, ... [sighs] I won't look at the fret board as a scale... it's hard for me to even talk about because I just don't even know how to explain it."
Grohl also said that, despite performing with numerous bands over the years, he always comes back to the Foo Fighters. "The Foo Fighters is more than a band to me," he said. "The Foo Fighters is a family of friends, musicians and crew who have been together 16/17 years and when I go out and play with someone like John Paul Jones I am in awe of him as a musical presence. And I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to jam with one of my heroes. But there's always the Foo Fighters in the back of my mind, and in my heart, I can't ever let the Foo Fighters go. I can't not be in this band."

"We are in Twilight Hall Studios, Germany, for the past days, working in Charlie Bauerfeind's pace. His way of work is to exhaust the drummer, playing around 4 hours a day, extracting the maximum of strength and accuracy until we achieve the desired result, unlike of I always recorded so far, recording 3 or 4 songs per day in long recording sessions. No wonder that the drum sound of his works always sounds amazing, and we can really feel the drummer giving everything he has to the song.
