(antiMusic) Have American rock fans fired the Boss? Critical darling Bruce Springsteen only managed a third place finish on the Billboard charts this week after selling 145,000 copies of his new album, "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions". A number that isn't anything to sneeze at. But which two artists beat the Boss at his own game? Godsmack topped the chart after selling 211,000 copies of "IV" and Taking Back Sunday denied Springsteen second place by moving 156,000 copies of their new one "Louder Now". Of course, Bruce is still the boss at concert venues and will likely outsell both bands easily, especially since his ticket prices are almost four times higher than TBS and judging by the Canadian show prices, twice as expensive as Godsmack tickets. So at least the Boss still gets paid more.

Your item fails to mention that it hasn't even been a year since Devils & Dust - an acoustic album, no less, debuted at #1, and the fact that We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions is not exactly designed for chart success. A whole tribute album to the music of Pete Seeger? And you're suggesting it's a failure because it's at #3? As I see it, unless millions of Pete Seeger fans suddenly came out in droves to record stores, it's Springsteen's power that got it there. It's not a sign of weakness at all. It's a significant achievement.
