A Touch of Someone Else's Class

05/22/2008
.
(PR) Alive Records will release the new album by southern punk-ass blues duo Black Diamond Heavies on June 10th. Titled "A Touch of Someone Else's Class," the band recorded the album with producer Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at his Akron Analog studio during a whirlwind 3-day session. Recently, the band wrapped a month long U.S. tour in April and is currently performing throughout Europe in May before hitting the road in the States this summer.

For the first time, the Black Diamond Heavies new album will feature special guests including long-time Tom Waits collaborator Ralph Carney (who recently guested on The Black Keys new album) on horns for the slow burn of "Bidin' My Time," Mr. Jimmy (The Falconer) contributing bass on several tracks and Dan Auerbach on guitar for the song "Happy Hour." The 11-track set also features several cover songs including furious takes on Tina Turner's "Nutbush City Limit," Nina Simone's "Oh Sinnerman" and "Take A Ride" by James Model T Ford.

The CD version of "A Touch of Someone Else's Class" comes with two different covers; one featuring John's keyboards and the other Van's drum kit. The CD version will also include one bonus track ("Happy Hour" featuring Dan Auerbach) not included on the LP. The initial pressing of the vinyl version comes in RED and is limited to 500 copies. A free mp3 download of the new track "Bidin' My Time" can be found here. For additional freebies, check out: http://www.alivenergy.com/BHD.html
