Hello Tomorrow for Dave Koz

08/31/2010
.
The first fruits of Dave Koz's new deal with Concord Records will be heard on October 12th. That's the date the famed label plans to release Koz's new album Hello Tomorrow.

Earlier this month, Koz debuted the lead single, "Put The Top Down," on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" as he sat in with Rickey Minor and The Tonight Show Band. The track, which features guitar great Lee Ritenour, just went to radio and is available now at all digital retailers.

"I'm excited to be with a new record label, Concord Records, after nearly 20 years," says Dave. "It's been a big change for me personally, and the more people I talk to, the more I realize that there are millions of people with a similar story. Circumstances have led them to take a step in a different direction or reinvent themselves in some way. Many of us are at the beginning of a new era, and I've found it's liberating to embrace change."

With Hello Tomorrow, Koz has created a record that speaks to the challenges of these times and boldly asserts that the future will unfold in all the right ways if we're willing to press the reset button. In addition to changing labels, he's worked with new producers - GRAMMY® winners Marcus Miller and John Burk - new musicians, and added vocalist to his substantial list of credits, singing lead on "This Guy's In Love With You." Herb Alpert, who took the Burt Bacharach-Hal David composition to No. 1 in 1968, guests on trumpet and most of the album was recorded at Alpert's old stomping grounds - the former A&M Studios, now Henson Recording Studios.

The album also features Dave's first collaborations with Keb'Mo' ("Think Big" and the bluesy jam "There's A Better Way") and Boney James, who trades licks with Koz on "When Will I Know For Sure." Other guests include Jonathan Butler, Brian Culbertson (who co-wrote several songs with Dave), Sheila E., Dana Glover, Jeff Lorber, Ray Parker, Jr. and Christian Scott.

The track listing for Hello Tomorrow is as follows:

1. Put The Top Down
2. When Will I Know For Sure
3. It's Always Been You
4. Get Away
5. This Guy's In Love With You
6. Anything's Possible
7. There's A Better Way
8. Start All Over Again
9. Think Big
10. The Journey
11. Remember Where You Came From
12. Whisper In Your Ear
13. What You Leave Behind
