Meek Mill Denied Emergency Hearing

(Radio.com) Meek Mill is still behind bars after his arrest a week ago for a probation violation - and that may not be changing anytime soon. Billboard reports the rapper will not get a hearing to shorten his jail sentence until September. The main issue? That's around the same time as his new album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, is scheduled for release.

Meek Mill's lawyers reportedly tried to get an emergency hearing scheduled so that he wouldn't have to wait until September, but that request has been denied by a judge.

"All I'm asking for is a hearing to learn why (his jailing) is constitutional and they won't even give me that," Mill's defense attorney Christopher Warren said.

Both Warren and fellow defense attorney Dennis Cogan now plan to file a plea to get a higher court to set an emergency hearing, claiming the rapper did not violate his probation as reported - and that a judge did not allow two hearings to provide him notice of his supposed violations before the jailing, which they say makes his time behind bars unconstitutional. more on this story
