It's not about what you wear, or what store you got you mother shirt from. Punk isn't about what band you like or weather or not they are on a major. Punk is about your ideas and polotics. So it's not about if you shirt is from American Eagle, or Hot Topic or the Salvation Army or anywhere else, and it's not about weather or not you think Blink-182 sold out. I feel sorry for them and often point this out during my english class when we're supposed to read out of our "journals" (i hate the school system almost as much as the american government-also yet another trend i have fallen into.) but they dont listen because theyre STUPID. so lets just let them live their sad little lives and make no good contribution to society. by 14 they shouldve developed their own minds and if not then we dont need to waste our time on them
-i hate drugs. i hate pills. i have been stoned once. it just made me really sleepy, hungry, dizzy, and wired. personally, thats how i live my dam life. i think drugs are self destructive and i feel sorry for ppl who think they need them to have a good time.
-I have a band called Culture Suicide. Music is the only thing that keeps me alive and sane but when anyone says something like "you like AFEE?? Those guys are F@GS! theyre so gay i hate them! AFEE SUX!" i just feel really sorry for that close-minded loser.
-I despise Britney Spears' music but im sure shes a good person on the inside
-Avril Lavigne used to be ok (even tho i didnt like her music-much too pop for my taste) but now shes just f*ckin annoying. saying stuff like "im just a skater punk who writes guitar driven lyrics" whatever you say avril. whatever you say.
-BUT i do love SOME Christina Aguilara music, Sarah MacLachlan, Blink182, and Linkin Park.
What sets me apart from trendies who also like this music is that i like it because the music has meaning and i can feel it. I can feel and understand what they say and i respect them as musicians.
The point of me telling you all this?
It may sound conceited (so shoot me) but who gives a f*ck, I DO think that i have a good stand on most of these things and i hope at least ONE person takes this to heart & atleast stops calling Blink182 Poseurs. Who cares if theyre poseurs. they obviously have at least a SMALL AMOUNT of talent and theyve played the buisness the right way and now theyre rich. More power to em i hope they have wonderful long lives. As for the music, the old stuff maybe true punk. the rest is amusing, i like to listen to it to wake me up or get me in a better mood. theyve seemed to have grown up and evolved as a band a bit with their new album and personally, im proud of these guys. theyre almost real "artists" this way. woo.
im tired of hearing everyone saying "BRITNEY SPEARS IS A SL*T! SHES SUCH A B!TCH!" when they dont even know her. youre just as bad as ppl calling AFI Goth, Kurt Cobain a suicidal f@g or ppl who say "Goths" are kids in black clothes who want to bring a gun to school or hang themselves.
Youre just as bad as these ppl and i suggest you get on with your life and stop dissing the PPL instead of the music/clothes/attitude.
Remember we are all trendy f*cks no matter how much we try not to conform or to be diffrent. But at least we can recognize this and rise above it right?

Though i somewhat agree with your list, what irks me the most is when you are entering say.....a Soulfly Concert and you look around and see the young lads and lasses (in the gap outfits with all the makeup on or the backwards prototypical white college caps and khakis) comprising most of the line, true it is great when music reaches new people, but when people are going to a show like this trying to make a fashion statement, and only there because Carson Daly or some other creature of the dark tells them its cool, now THAT is trendiness. The popularity between the vocal-harmony group known as Backstreet are about slightly exceeding that of the 'notorious' boyband known as *nsync, who, i might add, has barely any fans overseas in other countries as confirmed by their barely being able to fill the Skydome in Toronto to full capacity. Trendy's suck. My one main problem with pop music is that it's far too happy and cheery. Yet people who listen to pop are always giving those who like metal a hard time, because metal is "so depressing". If that's the case, why does pop depress me, and metal cheer me up? Metal is dark (well, I haven't seen a happy song yet), because it reflects upon the dark parts of society. Now, when I say metal, I mean true metal. Iron Maiden, Pantera, and so on. Not that new stuff which falls under the category of "fake metal". That stuff's almost as bad as pop. In the words of Manowar, DEATH TO FALSE METAL!

I dunno...it's getting just a little trendy among rock fans to hate Britney, Blink 182, etc...it's like obligatory to make expressions of disgust about them. I think maybe its getting a bit hold. Not that I dont hate them of course...

Well, the beatles were trendy, the Who were trendy, Clapton, Zeppelin, and dare i say it, even Sabbath can now be considered trendy among the hordes of metalheads ou there. Every music genre has its trends, if they didnt have trneds then the artists wouldnt make any money. The classification of all the ills of society, ie the backdoor boys, instink, britneys spheres, and cancer to society on a daily basis are jus the things people see every day of their lives, THOSE THAT ACTUALLY WATCH EMPTY-V. Educate and expand your horizons people, go underground, thru other people, not what the media tells you is good. Thats how good music is found. The majority of spectacular music otu there right now, is NOT on TV or on the radio, its in small clubs and dives all OVER the USA. Ok im done, have a nice day all.
