It started as an innocent joke thread on
our message boards and grew into infamy. I’m talking about the lamest songs
of all time. It seemed everyone was trying to top one another with the
songs of lame. Even I got into the fun of it all. I want to thank all of
those who scoured their brains for the ultimate in lameness that have assaulted
our eardrums over the years. So prepare yourself for the list that
is to come, if you have eaten within the past few hours I recommend not
reading the list at this time.

Yeah Guru, Keenan makes a guest appearance on the "Love doesn't come in a minute..." part. It's really funny. For those of you that might not know, ex-Tool bass player Paul D'Amour and some guys from the band Failure did a covers side band called Replicants. "Silly Love Songs" hardly sounds like the original, but the other songs are semi faithful, usually sounding downtuned or electronic.

Of all the lame songs out there, I don't see how "How Do You Sleep?" could be the lamest song ever, unless you hate it because it basically disses Paul McCartney, who has made even lamer songs than that. One thing I know, The Replicants' versions of "How Do You Sleep?" and "Silly Love Songs" are pretty cool, especially when Maynard James Keenan joins in on "Silly Love Songs".

Shatners version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was supposed to be joke, so that hardly counts, now does it? And just to be correct....You Don't Bring Me Flowers was a Neil Diamond song that he sang WITH Babs.....not that it makes it any better of song, per say, just trying to come correct.

Hey, Brand New Key by Melanie is a great song. William Shatner is so awful he's actually entertaining (lucy....in the sky...with diamonds. Beam me up, Scotty). I guess my picks for lamest song would have to be youth of a nation by pod. All these angry nu-metal white suburban kids who are just now realizing that life sucks and then they kill themselves-- they just tick me off. True story - in my hometown of Trenton, NJ, one of the DJs on the hit music station of Trenton collected as many 45s of the Terry Jacks song that he could get, and then climbed a really tall water tower so he could shatter them on the pavement from a great height. Someone should do that now with all "boyband" CDs.
