Jam! reports: An organization that supports abused women is distancing itself from hip hop superstar Jay-Z, whose lyrics it considers "misogynistic."

The London Abused Women's Centre has scrapped plans to raffle off a private box to the musician's upcoming John Labatt Centre show after hearing and reading lyrics its executive director is slamming as "offensive."

"We read the lyrics (yesterday) -- it was really offensive and we needed to cancel the event," Megan Walker said last night. "There was no debate. That's just something we wouldn't support." - more details

Kayos reports: On October 20, Eminem Live From New York City will be given the Blu-ray treatment via Eagle Rock Entertainment's Eagle Vision subsidiary [pre-book order date September 30, MSRP $24.98].

In 2005, rap's reigning Detroit superstar Eminem took the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City, just before his retirement from live performance. Streisand Tops The Charts
Columbia Records reports: Barbra Streisand's album Love is the Answer debuts no. 1 on the US charts by selling 180,415 for the week of September 29th. She has increased her prior record of length of time between her first #1 album (People, 1964) and her most recent.

This unprecedented success ties her with the Beatles for 3rd place behind Frank Sinatra (41) and Rolling Stones (36) for top 10 album first week sales. Setting numerous records that may never be exceeded, her new album topped a powerful field of new albums to win #1. Although no other artist or act had matched her prior record of four straight decades at #1, the new achievement may be a bar that can never be equaled.

Streisand is the #1 female album-selling recording artist in history and the only woman to make the Top 10 all time best selling artists list. Her accomplishments include 50 gold, 30 platinum and 13 multi-platinum albums. Barbra's previous number #1 albums include: People (1964), The Way We Were (1974), Greatest Hits Volume II (1979), Guilty (1980), The Broadway Album (1985), Back to Broadway (1993) and Higher Ground (1997). - more on this story

Athlete EP and NYC
Original Sin reports: Mercury-nominated UK songsmiths Athlete are releasing The Getaway, a brand new digital EP, on November 3rd. The EP's titular track will be the lead single from the band's fourth album Black Swan, due out in America early next year.

Since bouncing to prominence seven years ago with the spirited, electro-tinged, indie-pop of their Mercury-nominated debut, Vehicles And Animals, Athlete have established themselves among the UK's finest songsmiths. The southeast Londoners have sold more than a million copies of their three hit albums (the other two being 2005's Tourist and 2007's Beyond The Neighbourhood); packed out venues across the world; picked up an Ivor Novello award; and topped both the UK's album and airplay charts.

Athlete is now set to return with their finest work to date, Black Swan, which will be released early next year on Original Signal Recordings in the U.S. In advance of the release of Black Swan, Athlete will release their first single "The Getaway" as a digital EP on November 3rd. On the same day, the band will arrive in New York for a special one off U.S. performance to preview the album live at the Bowery Ballroom, Nov, 3. - more on this story
