Kid Rock Jams With Kenny Chesney In Detroit

(Radio.com) Kenny Chesney tapped local rocker Kid Rock when he stopped by Detroit, Michigan on Saturday (August 13) for his 2016 Spread the Love Tour. The pair teamed up to sing Rock's 1998 hit "Cowboy" as well as two covers.

Before bringing him onstage, Chesney said, "He is my brother in music [and] in life, and he is from Detroit, Michigan." Once they wrapped up Rock's song, Chesney and his guest launched into two big karaoke favorites.

They sang Allman Brothers Band's 'Midnight Rider," and David Allan Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" (via The Boot). Besides Rock, Chesney also invited out Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion and Jake Owen for individual moments.

Chesney will soon release his next album Cosmic Hallelujah, which contains his duet with Pink, on October 28th. A fan in the audience captured Rock's performance of "Cowboy" with Chesney. Watch it here.

Garth Brooks Contributing To CBS 'SEC Game of the Week'

(Radio.com) Like fellow country musicians Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks will be contributing music for a sport this fall. His song, "Pure Adrenaline" will be played every week on CBS' SEC Game of the Week.

Don't think that "Pure Adrenaline" is a one size fits all song. Each week, Brooks will update the lyrics to reflect the teams playing and make it special for viewers. "We wrote 'Pure Adrenaline' for every SEC game that's going to happen this year. It's pretty cool," he said during a Facebook Live event on Monday (August 15). He added, "There's like 20 something of 'em."

Brooks took fans behind the scenes where he was shooting the song's video. "They're going to make it look bigger, of course, than it is," he said. He mentioned how the video will be fast-paced and intercut with football footage. "Where we're going to take this to the next level, though, isI've acquired the writing of Gordon Kennedy. For you people who are Garth fans, Gordon wrote 'You Move Me.'" The two worked together on "Pure Adrenaline."

The song will debut September 3 when UCLA plays Texas A&M. Watch the Facebook Live event here.

Paris Jackson Defends Kanye West Amid Chart Record Backlash

(Radio.com) Kanye West has overtaken Michael Jackson's spot in the pop chart record books after landing his fortieth Top 40 slot, with his feature on ScHoolboy Q's "That Part."

The news infuriated some of Jackson's fans, but not Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson, who took to social media to respond to the haters. "The first time I ever heard Kanye's [808s and] Heartbreak album was from my dad," wrote Paris. "He played it for me all the time. He liked him. He never saw music as a competition or a game."

With 40 songs or lead features on songs having charted in the Billboard Hot 100, Kanye is now one slot ahead of Jackson and Frankie Valli, reports NME. Elvis Presley remains the king of the charts, however, with 80 Top 40 songs.

In her post, Paris wrote that her dad was a music fan first and foremost and never wasted time being negative about other musicians. "[He] Never had a motive to talk s- about other artists," she wrote. "It was always about the love and respect and appreciation for music. So if someone breaks a new record be happy for them. They worked hard for it and they earned it. Don't be angry or jealous or bias. Music is music and if it's good it deserves recognition." Read Paris Jackson's complete post here.

BANKS Releases 'Gemini Feed' Video

(Radio.com) BANKS loves creating striking, surreal visuals to interpret her music, and her latest video for "Gemini Feed" is no different. Taking a page out of Rihanna's book when it comes to bejeweled, futuristic makeup, BANKS opens the video wearing an intricate makeup design made up mostly of large jewels with a golden snake's tongue coming out of her mouth. Even though her eyes are closed, the way the jewels are positioned make it seem as though she's got second sight and knows something isn't right with her relationship.

"I tried a thousand times/ I tried to say 'I love you' but you didn't hear me/ And you're passive aggressive/ Convince me other people, they don't care about me," she sings toward the end of the first verse.

That emotional torture arises in the ropes that have captured her and kept her bound. Split into white and black versions of herself--reflecting the Gemini zodiac for twins--BANKS can't escape the ties her lover has created.

As much as she might feel like a powerful queen surrounded by Egyptian iconography representing sight, BANKS is still chained to her feelings. Watch the video here.

Frank Ocean's Producer Talks Forthcoming Album

(Radio.com) Frank Ocean's producer, Malay, took part in a Reddit AMA on Monday night (August 15), and even though users were told ahead of time that he would not be answering any questions about Ocean's upcoming album, one fan managed to get around that red tape and get an answer, kind of.

On the forum, the user said he respected Malay not wanting to answer questions about Ocean, but he had issues as a fan. "So in the interest of asking a question that acknowledges those boundaries while still addressing the elephant in the room, I'd like to know what you think about how fans have interacted with the rollout to this point," he wrote. "I think the major pain point for fans has been the fact that Frank has led us to believe there's something coming, and then he hasn't communicated with us at all."

The user added how he, like many others, had tuned into Ocean's live stream, clicked on his website for updates and generally put in a lot of time without hearing much about what was happening. As a result, he felt incredibly frustrated. "Maybe the point of the stream is to communicate that that relationship is one that puts undue expectations on an artist to engage with strangers, but I just want to support Frank and his career, and as a fan it's difficult to continue engaging in that kind of relationship when it feels so one-sided and unrewarding," he wrote.
