Nugent Vs Bono
Blabbermouth reports: Conservative rocker Ted Nugent recently told Launch Radio Networks that he disagrees with U2 singer Bono about the Irish singer's campaign for Third World debt relief, as well as his support for total civilian disarmament. Asked what he would say to Bono in a conversation, Nugent replied, "I'm sure I would be civil, but I would bring those subjects up and go, 'Come on. Come on! What part am I missing here?' In Rwanda they have total disarmament. In the Sudan they have total disarmament. About 6,000 (people) died yesterday. Come on! It's unbelievable. It's the hippie, get high, drop out, as long as I feel good cult. It's just embarrassing." - Click Here for the Full Story

Linkin Park Delay CD Plans
Blabbermouth reports: LINKIN PARK's Mike Shinoda recently told Launch Radio Networks it might be a while before the group gets around to making their next studio album. "We'll probably be working on a lot of other projects before we get started on the next LINKIN PARK album. We want to give our fans some different stuff, so as not to be redundant. Everyone is looking for great creative avenues to explore. It's no secret that we like to keep working, so it's safe to say that you can expect a number of things from us in the coming months." iPod Tax
tinfoil reports: Canada's Copyright Act allows the Copyright Board of Canada to apply levies to blank media such as blank CDs, DVDs and cassettes. Unfortunately, the wording of the act is ambiguous and the board has since included digital devices that could be used to store music, including MP3 players and memory cards often used in digital cameras.

This decision now calls into question the legality of copying MP3s to iPods and other devices. By paying the tax, Canadians were granted the right to copy their music to their MP3 players. Now that the judge has declared that the MP3 players were not a recording medium, Canadians may not be allowed to copy their music to their MP3 players, if they purchased the device after December 15th. The Copyright Act clearly defines media that legally can be used for private duplication of copyrighted material and MP3 players no longer meet that criteria. Labels Vs Red Cross
Wired reports: The recording industry will ask the International Red Cross to freeze a trust fund allegedly controlled by the owners of Sharman Networks, an Australian software company.

The music industry maintains that Sharman, the maker of the Kazaa peer-to-peer software, is owned by several companies through a trust fund registered in the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. The Red Cross is the only beneficiary specifically named in the trust, so the recording industry, which is suing Sharman, is asking the organization to voluntarily freeze the fund until a verdict is reached in the Australian Federal Court. Beatle Guitar Sells Big
AP reports: A classic Gibson guitar played by George Harrison on the Beatles' "Revolver" album and by John Lennon during the recording of the "White Album" sold Friday to an anonymous bidder for $567,500, Christie's auction house announced.

The cherry-red SG Standard guitar belonged to Harrison from 1966 through 1969, and holds a special place in Beatles history. Harrison used the guitar in recording sessions and in several of the band's increasingly rare public appearances, and loaned the guitar to Lennon during sessions for the "White Album," according to Darren Julien, whose Julien Entertainment co-sponsored the auction. Withering Surface Split
Metal-Rules reports: After 10 years in action, Withering Surface have decided to call it a day.

Since the foundation of the band in 1994, Withering Surface committed them selves to melodic death metal. Seen by many as the Danish pioneers of the genre, they gained a large following from the early stage.

However, in December 2004 the five current members, Nikolaj Borg (drums), Jacob Krogholt (guitar), KB Larsen (bass), Allan Tvedebrink (guitars) and Michael H. Andersen (vocals) jointly decided to split up the band.

The most obvious reasons for the split are lack of inspiration and different opinions on the mission for the band. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Stryper Break 8th Commandment?
ElectricBasement reports: A few bands and some Mexican Christian concert promoters have launched a website (http://www.stryper-pay-back.tk) calling into question STRYPER's business practices, claiming the band unfairly asked for $100,000 to do a Christian metal show which they originally agreed to do for less. The issue is that the band did not show up for the gig yet still kept over $50,000 according to the website. The event also included the bands MORTIFICATION, NARNIA, SAVIOUR MACHINE. Stryper has issued few statements on the matter and, as of this writing, are only planning on reimbursing the promoters with internet sales of T-shirts that would have been featured at the event. - Click Here for the Full Story
