Virtual Air Guitar
KNAC reports: The Virtual Air Guitar project - developed by Helsinki University of Technology students Aki Kanerva, Juha Laitinen and Teemu Maki-Patola - adds genuine electric guitar sounds to the air guitar. 

Using a computer to monitor the hand movements of the "player", it adds riffs and licks to match frantic mid-air finger work, reports New Scientist. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

15 Elektra Reissues
conqueroo reports: Collectors' Choice Music, one of the most venerated pop music reissue labels, will launch a series of 15 CDs from the vaults of Elektra Records on February 21. Carefully curated with the input of Elektra founder Jac Holzman, and licensed from Rhino, each of the reissues will be mastered from the original tapes with original album art plus liner notes featuring quotes from Holzman himself. 

The series features What's Shakin', a long-out-of-print 1966 anthology that featured the Lovin' Spoonful, Eric Clapton's Powerhouse (featuring Steve Winwood, Manfred Mann and Paul Jones, produced by Joe Boyd), Al Kooper, Tom Rush and the Butterfield Blues Band.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Hooters and The Dead Rebels Rock Domestic Violence
Press Release reports: The Dead Rebels will be the first to tell you that they give a hoot about domestic violence issues. Co-headlining a Hooters charity benefit for Haven Hills, an LA-based battered women and children's shelter, the southern rock band is fired up to make a difference while rocking out. 

The benefit will take place on Wednesday, December 7th, at 8:00 p.m. at Club Xes in Hollywood, and tickets are currently on sale directly through the Hooters locations in Burbank and Hollywood. Proceeds will go toward shelter reparations as well as much-needed supplies for domestic violence prevention and aid programs at Haven Hills, which has helped over 100,000 women and children since 1977 to rebuild their lives and free themselves from the horrors of domestic abuse.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Idol Bo Goes Pop
Fanscape reports: The "American Idol' story you know. Bo made it into the top 24, then the top 12, and as the weeks went by and others were voted off, Bo remained. On the final episode, Bo was named runner-up to Carrie Underwood. He was signed to RCA Records and his first single, 'Inside Your Heaven" / "Vehicle" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Singles Sales chart.

Asslantic Records reports: sk P.O.D. the secret to their remarkable success and their immediate response would be "the Warriors," referring to their passionate and ever-growing fan following. Fiona Apple Joins Coldplay Tour
Epci reports: After releasing her first record in nearly six years to massive critical acclaim and embarking on a successful headlining tour this fall, Epic recording artist Fiona Apple will join Coldplay's "Twisted Logic" North American tour in early 2006. Deep Focus reports: Green Day Week on fuse isn't over yet! Today at noon, fuse will offer an online sneak peek of Green Day's one hour performance from the fuse studios. Chris Pierce Goes West
Miles High Productions reports: Acclaimed Folk, Rock and Soul vocalist Chris Pierce will be heading out for a west coast tour along with tour mates Charlotte Martin and Andrew Paul Woodworth, all with newly released albums. The tour will begin in Southern California and head up through Oregon and Washington hitting notorious venues along the way.

Emperor Add Dates
Candlelight Records reports: Due to overwhelming sales on previously announced Emperor shows in New York City and Los Angeles, Candlelight Records today confirms additional shows in each city to meet fan demand. Momentum for ticket sales in the first hours on sale in New York had fans buying tickets at a rate of 1 every six minutes. BB Kings talent buyer Toffer Christensen says, "we knew going in that the date would be a big event for metal fans, but the initial demand far exceeded our estimate. The fans are clamoring to see their Emperor. These shows could easily be sold out in the next month." 

Ticket sales in Los Angeles rivalled New York City where fans lined up for Key Club's box office opening. First day sales registered over 200 tickets for the 800 capacity venue eight months prior to the show.[see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Suicide City Arrest
myrockstarkilledyours.com reports: Suicide City has just completed their first US tour with Mindless Self Indulgence with great success! Since the May 2005 release of their self-financed EP entitled, "Not My Year", the band has sold over 4000 cd's hand to hand, without the help of any distribution! Completely DIY!

With their first shows since home from tour, this past weekend in NYC (@ CBGB's) and Philly (@ The Pontiac Grille) their local following witnessed the fine tuned band at their best, with Philly ending in singer Karl Bernholtz spending the night in jail as a result of heavy partying on South Street!
