Eddie Van Halen Enters Rehab
PR reports: The long awaited Van Halen reunion tour will be even longer-awaited -- Eddie Van Halen has checked himself into alcohol-related rehab.

In an exclusive statement to TMZ, the rock legend explains why he's determined to clean up his act: I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I'm doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Rock Hall Ban Roth
Blabbermouth reports: Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times reports that David Lee Roth, VAN HALEN's frontman for the band's first decade, said Thursday (March 8) he will not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony because event officials have turned down his repeated overtures to perform.

The Van Halens have been in lock-down mode since their plans for a summer reunion tour with Roth collapsed last month. Roth said he last spoke to Eddie Van Halen's camp a week ago, and he said he could not determine the truth about reports that the guitarist is seeking help for alcohol problems. "Ed is indisposed and working toward a better future here," Roth said. "If Ed ever dries up, this is going to be a stadium act, man.... What's happening here with this [New York event] is part and parcel of the same spiral that screwed up the tour."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

GNR Fan Protest
pr-inside reports: The Italian GUNS N' ROSES fan who threatened to shut down his popular website dedicated to the rock group if their delayed CHINESE DEMOCRACY album didn't hit stores this month (MAR07) has lived up to his word. The fansite posted threats late last year (06) after another delay, but the unnamed fan gave frontman AXL ROSE the benefit of the doubt when he released a statement promising fans the album would hit stores this month.

In a statement, the site's administrators write, "The never-ending saga of Chinese Democracy, the lack of respect, clearness and mutual loyalty are just some of the reasons that has brought us down to this painful conclusion.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Shaddy Justice
E! reports: A Dublin High Court judge on Wednesday formally requested that Eminem provide testimony under oath explaining why he scrapped a sold-out gig at Slane Castle in 2005. The rap superstar's answers are considered a potentially critical part of a civil lawsuit brought by the promoter against three insurance companies that declined to cover the costs of the cancellation.

Eminem had been slated to headline the Sept. 17, 2005 concert as part of the European leg of his Anger Management Tour, but the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, backed out just weeks before the show, citing exhaustion stemming from other medical issues.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Bono Charity Not Run Like a 3rd World Nation After All?
pr-inside reports: LATEST: Sources close to rock star BONO's charity campaign RED are slamming media reports claiming the organisation has spent more on marketing than raising funds. The high-profile campaign raises money for the Global Fund to Fights AIDS in Africa by selling red products such as iPods, clothing and mobile phones.

US advertising trade magazine Advertising Age reported the campaign "raised a meager $18 million (£9 million)" despite a "marketing outlay by Gap, Apple and Motorola (which) has been enormous - with some estimates as high as $100 million (£51 million)". A source close to the campaign slams the report, telling the New York Daily News, "First of all, Red didn't launch products until mid-October (06) . And they raised $25 million (£13 million). "Before that, the fund had taken in about $5 million (£2.6 million) over a four-year period[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Popper Popped
TMZ reports: Blues Traveler frontman John Popper was arrested in Spokane, Wash. yesterday for speeding (111 mph, no big deal) and marijuana possession (not exciting). But during the search, officers found multiple hidden compartments in Popper's vehicle -- which held a total of 14 weapons, including four rifles (one of which was a 50 caliber), nine handguns and a switchblade knife! Now we're talking!

Popper was arrested along with a friend, Brian Gourgeois, who was driving Popper's car at the time. They will both be charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The WSP also says that DEA agents seized Popper's vehicle, and he could face federal charges of possessing a vehicle with hidden compartments. Let's hope his harmonica playing goes over well in the big house. [see the full story for Popper's excuse for having all those dandy gadgets!]

Crock Hall List Really Sales Gimmick?
Idolator.com reports: The National Assn. of Record Merchandisers and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame unveiled a list of 200 albums that belong in everybody's CD collection titled the Definitive 200 that will be used as a marketing tool at big box outlets (Wal-Mart, K mart, Best Buy), chain music shops (Virgin, Trans World outlets), indie CD stores (Cheap Thrills in new Brunswick, N.J.*, J&R in New Yok, Newbury Comics in Boston, Zia in Phoenix, Ariz., and Waterloo in Austin, Texas) and online sites (Amazon, Overstock).
Campaign is starting with 75 retailers signed up.

The list has the usual suspects -- the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" are the top three -- but unlike most album lists, this one was compiled by retailers.[because everyone knows that Creed's "Human Clay" is far better than most CDs ever released.. see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

MTV Wants Their Tweens!
punkbands reports: It seems MTV plans to take back the planets young from places such as Myspace and Youtube by starting a whole host of websites designed to restore the 'youth culture' tag once worn by the network. It's planned websites will allow its users to watch, contribute and even re-edit MTV programs amongst other things. MTV Networks who own MTV will work with Viacom, but critics believe this could lead to the MTV brand being diluted. If you ask me all MTV needs too do to win people back is to start playing music again and get rid of all the pointless reality-celeb-shows it poisons TV screens with. [what MTV play music? no reality in that hope]- Click Here for the Full Story
