Sanctity Kicked Out of the Mall
Metal Underground reports: North Carolina thrashers Sanctity, who recently lost their front man Jared MacEachern and bassist Derek Anderson, have now lost their record deal. Now that Roadrunner Records has let them go, they're in the process of recording some demos with the hope of finding a new label.

Metal Underground reported yesterday: Although not many details have been revealed, Sanctity have apparently parted ways with singer Jared MacEachern. The following is their latest update:

"OK guys, do not reply to this unless you want an audition. If you do have any questions write us a 'new' message. As most of you have figured out, YES, Jared has left the band. He recently had a daughter and decided to pursue a family life.We will be holding auditions. This goes to any one who wants to try out, if you do not live in our area you will have to pay for your own traveling cost, we will consider this as a dedication to the cause and keep that in mind when making the cuts. - more on this story

Diddy He Do It? LA Times Says No
E! reports: Forget what's fit to print, the Los Angeles Times is busy publishing all the news that's fit to retract.

A little more than a week after apologizing for running a story connecting Sean "Diddy" Combs with the 1994 nonfatal shooting of Tupac Shakur, the paper has formally retracted the piece after concluding the report was based on falsified evidence and "relied heavily on information that The Times no longer believes to be credible."

The original article, titled "An Attack on Tupac Shakur Launched a Hip-Hop War," was published March 17 and alleged, based on bogus FBI documents, that three associates of Combs' orchestrated an assault on Shakur - more on this story

Steely Dan's Walter Becker Sets Solo Release
antiMusic reports: Some news for Steely Dan fans. First the band will be touring this summer but also Walter Becker has a new solo album coming out. Here is the PR: With the June 10th release of Circus Money, his trenchant and tender new solo album on the 5 Over 12 imprint, Walter Becker returns to stand-alone status for the first time in fourteen years. "It is," the artist acknowledges, "a unique career strategy."

It was in 1994 that 11 Tracks of Whack, Becker's debut solo outing arrived, with conclusive proof that the songwriter, multi-tasking musician and studio habitu had more to say and more ways to say it than could be contained in the epochal oeuvre of Steely Dan. And that itself is saying something, considering the storied career of the estimable duo, with all the masses of platinum and multiples of Grammy amassed by Walter Becker and his teammate Donald Fagen over the last forty odd some would say very odd -- years. Yet there was evidently a lot more where that came from, music so idiosyncratic, iconoclastic and ingenious only one artist could rightly be held accountable.

"When I write a song, it matters very much whether it's intended for me," Walter explains. "If it is, I can do what I want, within my own frame of reference. I take full responsibility." - more on this story

More Gabber Guru in May
Rock Ridge Music reports: Known as a DJ and called "The Gabber Guru," Rob GEE will release his latest album, "Says," on May 6th on Rock Ridge Music. It is the second album in a three-part series and follows his self-titled release which came out last fall.

The album is 100% Rob GEE: eclectic, unexpected and completely unique. GEE's band, who recorded the album with him and perform with him live, includes: GEE on lead vocals, Einstein (electronic percussion), Mike Puch (bass, vocals), Vin Man (guitar, vocals), T-Bert (drums), Nicky Twist (turntables, vocals). GEE is currently gearing up for a summer world tour in support of the first and second albums in the series.

GEE's history of DJing (across the world) and live performances shows his dedication to bringing the fusion of organic and electronic music to a wide variety of listeners. GEE's love of hip-hop, hardcore, techno, metal and every other genre set him apart from the rest. While other DJs make tracks and spin records, GEE is an artist who writes original songs. His indecisiveness as to whether or not he wanted to breakdance and spin hip-hop or jump in the mosh pit and play in a metal band was one of the reasons he began to cultivate his own style of both. Rob GEE is the only artist of his kind to collaborate and create with members of respected rock, metal, hardcore and hip-hop acts such as Slipknot, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Wu-Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, and System Of A Down (just to name a few), creating a unification of electronic, metal, hardcore, hip-hop, and any other style for that matter, known as gabber music. - Myspace page

Temujin To Deliver 1000 Tears to the US
PR reports: Following the 2007 self-published release of the debut album '1000 Tears', Australian Goth/Metal band Temujin have signed with US independent label Renaissance Records for distribution of "1000 Tears" in the USA, Canada and Mexico. In support of the US retail release, discussions are under way for a proposed US tour later in 2008.

This feels very much like a case of 'right place, right time' for us" says vocalist Kelly. "Renaissance are a true 'indie' label, a small but dynamic company. This is an opportunity for both the band and the label to grow together, and we're looking forward to it. Renaissance is showing faith in us, and we aim to reward that faith this year!"

Temujin are Kelly (vocals, keyboards) and Karl Lean (guitars, bass and drums). Formed in 2005, the band has focused on writing and recording throughout 2006, which culminated in the 2007 release of '1000 Tears'.
