Idol Goes Disney
AP reports: Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced plans Thursday to create a live performance attraction based on "American Idol" at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park, formerly called Disney-MGM Studios, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

"Our goal is to try to recreate the excitement of those 24 people who show up on that 'American Idol' stage," Disney Parks chairman Jay Rasulo told The Associated Press.

Much like the hugely popular Fox singing competition, the as-yet-unnamed attraction -scheduled to open in late 2008 - will allow theme park guests to audition then perform before a live studio audience. [Why not just set up karaoke machines and leave the Idol branding off? They will save a lot of money on licensing that way, because it's basically the same thing.] - more on this story

Bring Me The Head Of Paul McCartney On Heather Mill's Wooden Peg
PR reports: After spending time writing and recording in Liverpool, England and Reykjavik, Iceland; My Bloody Underground will be the thirteenth full-length album released by the Brian Jonestown Massacre, set for release on Anton Newcombe's own record label "a recordings" on April 15th 2008.

Thirteenth time's a charm for a band who's name a portmanteau of the original and founding member of The Rolling Stones' Brian Jones and the infamous mass cult suicide at Jonestown, Guyana in 1978. Fans and critics of Brian Jonestown Massacre who have eagerly awaited a new album for a little over 4 years now will not be disappointed with its musical content, quality and controversy to follow.

The opening track titled "Bring Me The Head Of Paul McCartney On Heather Mill's Wooden Peg (Dropping Bombs On The White House)" begins and soars into an echoing wave of tambourines and trancelike acoustics, that continues for 12 more tracks and 75.87 minutes, stirring visions of sunny Californian communes to New York City bars on the Lower East Side. - dig more here

"We are one or two riffs short of completing the seventh and final track for the next album. The only reason why this last tune hasn't been finished just yet is lack of time during the last month or so.

"K's been helping out GRAVE playing some gig or two and he's also recorded the TORTURE DIVISION demo (with fellow TPH superstar J and VOMITORY's Grindmaster Flash Tobben) that you'll all get as a free download shortly at the Torture Division website. Classic MTV Content To Go Online?
antiMusic reports: David Card blogs on the Jupiter Research site about MTV's future plans which includes plans to take on Myspace and Yahoo Music. Here is part of what he had to say:

A gang of Jups spent some quality time with a gang of MTV Music/Logo execs today. MTV has a perhaps surprisingly solid online story to tell, and one that is rather counterintuitive, coming from a Big (Old?) Media Brand.

It's also returning a bit to its music roots, something I wouldn't have expected, and aiming to supplant Yahoo Music and MySpace. It's aggressively doing Internet video syndication (watch for a forthcoming JupiterResearch report). It's digitizing, chapterizing, and metadata-ing its archives, with the idea of spreading clips far and wide, on and off sites it controls. (It costs an "insignificant" couple hundred grand to do that to Jackass content with partner Dickhouse Productions. Wow, only big media would call that insignificant.) - That's not all, read more here

Five Times August Tour
PR reports: On March 18, Five Times August (aka 24-year old Dallas native Brad Skistimas) will release his sophomore album 'Brighter Side.' Starting next week, Five Times August will hit the road including some shows with Matt White.

Written entirely by Skistimas, 'Brighter Side' brims with melodies that are pure acoustic singer/songwriter at the core. The first single "The Good Life" is a masterpiece of guitar-driven rock propelled by infectious hooks, tight arrangements and Skistimas' yearning, elastic voice which recalls Paul Westerberg's classic ache.

Five Times August has developed a massive national grassroots following through constant touring. In 2007, he toured over 8 months performing in 43 states. Completely self-booked, Brad greeted many of his 62,000+ My Space fans along the way. Plans are in the works for an extensive 2008 tour schedule. - see the first string of dates here

Static Revenger's Love Song Surprise
PR reports: On May 6, producer/DJ/multi-instrumentalist Dennis White (AKA Static Revenger) unveils his latest project Love Song Surprise. Co-produced by Supreme Beings of Leisure's Ramin Sakurai and co-written by 2007 BBC world music award nominee Duke Mushroom (Bole 2 Harlem), Love Song Surprise is an electronic based record filled with skilful song writing/production and pure emotion.

Love Song Surprise has already garnered plenty attention through its first single "Sweetest Day." The track was a top requested song on KCRW and was chosen by Britney Spears as her wedding song on the reality show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic. Trainwrecks aside, these ten tracks will get your heart pumping one way or another.

"Most people who know my work, only know my Dance Music, so when they hear this (LSS), they're like- 'wow- this actually doesn't suck... how the hell are you singing love songs?!' What they don't realize is that before my couple of Dance Music hits, I used to sing in a Major Label band in the 90's- We had quite a big audience in Detroit back then- Kid Rock was our opening act for years- that's true!... I'm never sure if that part of the story is cool or tragic, but in any case- when you've ----ed up as much as I have at love, you either become an alcoholic, or a great song writer.. so for years I've been writing songs with the voice of authority for every man who's screwed up a good thing. I seem to have perfected it..." (laughing, while knocking back a scotch neat)." Dennis White

The Dollyrots Kick Off Tour Because They're Awesome
PR reports: The Dollyrots, LA power punk trio on Blackheart Records, are touring in support of their latest album, 'Because I'm Awesome.'

Power punk trio The Dollyrots rip through sassy, high-energy, bubblegum anthems on their sophomore album 'Because I'm Awesome,' out now on Joan Jett's Blackheart Records. The band was founded by long-time friends Kelly Ogden (vocals, bass) and Lucas Cabezas in Florida in early 2000. After relocating to LA and adding drummer Chris Black, the band spent the summer of 2006 on the Vans Warped Tour. Joan Jett, a featured performer on the tour, was impressed with The Dollyrots and signed them to Blackheart Records.

The title track on their album, "Because I'm Awesome," was voted "The Coolest Song of 2007" on Little Steven's Underground Garage, beating out rock superstars like The White Stripes, Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger. Also included on the album is "Brand New Key," a fiery cover of the popular '70s tune by Melanie. - more on this story

Pallas DVD
PR reports: A brand new DVD release of the legendary Pallas on 04/15/2008! The Scottish neo prog outfit is one of the very first bands of the neo progressive movement of the early eighties. It's an energetic and magnificent band somewhat reminiscent of IQ/Marillion but with more edge.

Their music is based on melodic hooks, loud sound and great voice. DVD offers a real treat for the fans of sublime soundscapes: beautiful and dynamic songs, fluctuating between dreamy melancholy, monumental sadness, and bursting energy. A great spectacle, beautifully adorned with wonderful lighting and intriguing visuals, filmed at the atmospheric venue of Wyspianski Theater in Katowice, Poland in late October 2007.

Bonus Materials: fully animated menu * interview with Alan Reed and Graeme Murray * 2 video extras - 'Tales from the Tourbus' and 'The Rehearsal Tapes' * biography * discography * photo gallery * desktop images * web links - more on this story
