Weezer's Rivers Cuomo Injuries Weren't Exactly Minor
River Cuomo was reported to have suffered some minor injuries when Weezer's bus crashed on Sunday but a follow up blog posting on the band's Myspace page that describes his injuries paint them as more than minor. That's the bad news; the good news is they say he is recovering nicely in the hospital.

Their original blog on Sunday said that Rivers "cracked 3 ribs and sustained some mostly minor but very painful internal damage, as well as hurting his lower leg somehow." In a follow-up blog they go into more details about those injuries. Here is what they had to say on their blog: ....Meanwhile in the hospital, Rivers has had a much better day than yesterday. He went from being barely able to talk and open his eyes yesterday to partially sitting up, talking clearly, reading books and checking the internet, plus his color and energy seemed much brighter. And then finally in the evening he was given some good news.

To back up a bit, Rivers' internal injuries included both a small cut on his spleen and a small puncture in his lung. An internal cut needs to be carefully monitored to see if it is healing up or not. The lung puncture was small so the lung did not fully collapse, and thus no surgery was needed for that, but it also has to be monitored carefully to avoid fluid build up. Today the doctor announced that Rivers blood pressure had stabilized, meaning the spleen was no longer leaking - it was on the mend. And his lung seemed to be gaining strength and holding up, meaning it too looks like it will mend itself with time. All this is great news so far. Plus he was given the go ahead to eat some real food again - a very positive sign! - more on this story

Underoath Tour Van Crash
Underoath ran into some bad luck on their current tour. They were headed to a show in Omaha on Tuesday when their equipment van was in what the band is calling "a very bad accident". No one from the band was hurt, but unfortunately their driver was.

Here is the message they posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday: "The show in Omaha tonight is cancelled. Our van carrying all our gear got into a very bad accident. The driver has some injuries, but is stable. However there is no possible way we can make the show tonight. Please drive safely back home. There have been way too many accidents lately."

On a more positive note, they had this update on Tuesday as well: We have another new show to add to Underoath's European Tour in March and April. Underoath will be coming to Chemnitz on April 2nd and the Munich show was moved to April 3rd. Check below for the full tour routing. - more on this story

Dine With Def Leppard's Guitarist
(Def Leppard) Here's your chance to attend a private dinner on February 13, 2010 with Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell at the famous Cat and the Fiddle Restaurant & Pub in Hollywood! Create Now is currently auctioning 25 seats at Viv's dinner table on eBay, and bidding ends on December 17.
The top 25 winners will hang out with Viv in a private room where you'll eat a scrumptious dinner (choice of meat, fish or poultry) that includes wine and beer. No host bar. There will be four tables and the more you pay, then the closer you get to sit to Viv during the meal -- more opportunity to pick his brain about Def Leppard's future plans or anything else!

However, everyone will have plenty of time to mingle with him, since we'll be in a private room with a lot of space. Everyone can have their photos taken with Vivian. There's a nice backdrop area, and we'll even have a professional photographer on hand (an old friend of Viv's) to get awesome shots. Of course, Viv will also sign your memorabilia so bring your albums, CDs, T-shirts and posters!

All proceeds from this benefit will support the work of Create Now, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. We serve kids who are abused, homeless, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated by providing workshops in art, music, writing, dance, theater and cultural excursions. Aimee Mann announces guests for her upcoming annual holiday extravaganza at the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles on December 13th and 14th and a new date added on December 15th. Singer-songwriter, film composer, and Aimee's husband Michael Penn will join the show for all three dates while married singer-songwriting couple Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) and Zooey Deschanel (She & Him) will perform for the first two sold-out shows on Dec 13 & 14. This year's line-up will bring back a host of old favorites along with some new faces to the Largo , Aimee's home away from home (recently immortalized in film.) See Largofilm.com for further information and screenings.

Mann's homage to the holiday variety show of yore has consistently played to sold-out crowds across the U.S, featuring a mixture of music from One More Drifter in the Snow, hosting comedians Paul F. Tompkins, Patton Oswalt and Fred Armisen along with special drop-in guests that have included Jackson Browne, John C. Reilly, Amos Lee, Chuck Prophet, Rachel Yamagata, Nellie McKay, Josh Ritter, Ben Lee, Ben Gibbard, comedienne Morgan Murphy and fellow singer-songwriter Grant Lee Phillips. The New York Times has described the holiday pageant as "Delightfula Santa-stupefying balance of naughty and nicewith the giddy warmth of an eggnog buzz. Hangover included of course."

Silversun Pickups Snag Grammy Nomination and American Muse Tour
Dangerbird Records is proud to announce that Los Angeles-based quartet Silversun Pickups have been nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy Award. For a fully independent band to win this award is incredibly rare, and less than 10 in the history of the Grammys have been nominated overall. No one is taking this for granted, least of all the band.

Lead singer Brian Aubert said, "This was never something in our sights. We have never even had a fantasy about this. It just wasn't on our radar. However, we do feel insanely proud of our label and everyone involved with us. The nod from the Grammys makes us feel real warm inside. We're astonished, excited, and completely humbled by it."

On February 27th, Silversun Pickups begin their much-anticpated North American tour with Muse at Atlanta's Gwinnett Center. Only six dates have been announced so far. The band is currently on tour in Europe supporting Placebo along with doing some headlining shows on days off.. On December 21st, they will appear on The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien to play their current single "Substitution," from their most recent album, Swoon, which so far has yielded the band's second #1 Modern Rock single, "Panic Switch." On January 26, 2010, to begin the show's sweeps period, Silversun Pickups will be the first band to perform on the Jimmy Kimmel Live outdoor stage after its mid-winter hiatus.
