Country Singer Rejects Velvet Revolver Job Offer
antiMusic reports: Velvet Revolver found their man. A singer who they felt was the perfect choice to replace Scott Weiland. But the singer turned down the job... twice! Classic Rock magazine broke the story: Country rock star Shooter Jennings has confirmed that he has been offered the job of singer with Velvet Revolver but has turned the band down TWICE! Shooter, the son of country legend Waylon Jennings, was one of the men Classic Rock tipped as potential VR singers back in April last year.

At that time Duff McKagan admitted that Jennings could make a good replacement: "Shooter's great, actually," he told CR's Scott Rowley. "That's a good idea. He's does a southern rock thing, but his old band was straight up kinda rock. He's a talented guy man, he's pretty awesome. He would be good."

In a new interview with Classic Rock, Jennings confirms that he was asked but turned the band down. And not just once. [before he returned to his family musical roots, Shooter headed up Stargunn, a popular hard rock band in Los Angeles that had a style similar to Aerosmith meets Buckcherry but with a country kick listen here)and stylistically he would be a good match for Velvet Revolver. His name would also make for a good fit.]

The new album, titled Battle For The Sun, will be released on June 9, 2009 on Vagrant Records in the US and Canada.

Upon completion of the Meds tour that took in stadium appearances in Chile, Mexico, Brazil, France and Germany, personal relationships within the band had become strained leading to an emotional split with Steve Hewitt, their drummer since 1996. - more on this story

Overcharging Doesn't Pay: Ticketmaster Lose A Billion Dollars
Billboard reports: Ticketmaster Entertainment, which in February announced plans to merge with Live Nation, has reported a net loss of $1.07 billion for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2008.

The loss is a result from the ticketing company taking an impairment charge to account for its falling share price since spinning off from IAC/InterActiveCorp last August. The $1.1 billion goodwill write-down reflected the decline in the company's stock price, which debuted at $20 when it spun off from IAC/InterActiveCorp.

Ticketmaster Entertainment shares closed today (March 19) down 3 cents at $4.09 before the earnings were announced. Free cash flow increased to $49 million from negative $15 million in the same period a year ago. - more on this story

I'm Rick James! The Definitive DVD
Submitted News reports: As the Motown 50 celebration continues, I'm Rick James! The Definitive DVD (Hip-O/Motown/UMe), released March 24, 2009, focuses the spotlight on slick Rick like never before, with his performances of his Motown classics on video.

Rick James had to be seen to be believed. The outrageous "Super Freak" whose soul-pop-punk-funk continues to rock parties today was infamous for his live performances. Bare chested, sporting long braids and skin tight spandex, James--backed by his Stone City Band--was more exciting and "badder" than any other artist commanding a stage.

In conjunction with the DVD and the reissue of Anthology (Motown/UMe), available April 14, 2009, Rick James' smash hit, "Super Freak," will be predominantly featured in the new VISA commercial, beginning April 2009. - more on this story

Singled Out: Burn Halo (ex-Eighteen Visions)
antiMusic reports: Good news for Eighteen Visions fans, James Hart is back fronting a new group called Burn Halo. Their debut album hits stores on March 31st and asked James to give us the inside story to the first single "Dirty Little Girl". Here is James to tell you all about it:

When I was writing the album with Zac Maloy, we were throwing around ideas for subject matter. He brought up the idea of a girl that just gets herself into a lot of trouble. I actually knew a girl just like that with the perfect story to go along with it. I decided I wanted to capture this very common story about the crazy things people will let slide when they are in love.

One of my closest friends was dating a girl for a couple of years. Her entire persona was just one huge lie. As she started to unveil who she really was over the course of a couple years, things started to get a little messy. They were always fighting. Break up then make up the next day. She seemed to get her way and was always lying about something. She started partying really hard, flirting with and hooking up with other dudes. It was a vicious cycle that was never ending.

For some reason, he kept this girl around. Maybe it was the sex. Maybe it was just the fact that she was crazy and that turned him on. Whatever the case, she was a dirty little girl and he was in love.

Hearing is believing! Learn more about the band, check out songs from the album and more all - right here!
