antiTainment NEWS: Mean Girls Finish First At The Box Office

Nice guys finish last, but Mean Girls has finished first. The teen comedy pulled in an estimated $25 million over the weekend. The film staring Lindsay Lohan, easily beat out last week’s No. 1, “Man on Fire,” for the top of the box office.  

Other top 10 debuts this week include the romantic comedy “Laws of Attraction”, which pulled in an estimated $7 million of a fourth place finish. The new thriller “Godsend” was close behind with $6.9 million. Jack Black did not follow up the success of “School of Rock,” which opened with a $19.6 million weekend. Black’s new film with Ben Stiller, “Envy,” only managed make $6.1 million. 

Last week’s king of the box office, “Man on Fire,” fell to second place with an estimated $15.2 million in ticket sales, bringing the box office total to $44.5 million. Third place went to “13 Going on 30,” which earned an additional $10 million this past weekend.

1. "Mean Girls” - $25 million.
2. "Man on Fire” - $15.2 million.
3. "13 Going on 30” - $10 million.
4. "Laws of Attraction” - $7 million.
5. "Godsend” - $6.9 million.
6. "Envy” - $6.1 million.
7. "Kill Bill Vol. 2” - $5.8 million.
8. "The Punisher” - $3.4 million.
9. "Home on the Range” - $2.2 million.
10. "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” - $2.1 million.
