(Kayos) Who could have possibly even imagined when Germany's Grave Digger debuted in 1984 with Heavy Metal Breakdown that 22 years and 14 albums later, the band's Liberty Or Death-to be released January 30 via Locomotive Records (distributed stateside by Ryko)-would represent the state of the metal art. Vocalist Chris Boltendahl, bassist Jens Becker, drummer Stefan Arnold, guitarist Manni Schmidt and keyboardist HP Katzenburg have fashioned an elaborate hard-hitting manifesto of pure adrenaline.

Over a year in the making, Liberty Or Death is, indeed, more than just a battle cry. Call it a lifestyle, if you will. Its themes of adventure, freedom, war and peace are universal, rife with inspiration.
