(PR) Eliane Elias' latest album Around The City, which contains a hot new cover of Beck's "Tropicalia." Eliane weaves the rhythm of her Brazilian roots, smoky, seductive vocals and sick yet subtle piano chops into the pop hit. "Tropicalia," (from the 1998 album Mutations) was a homage to the Brazilian Tropicalia psychedelic/soul fusion movement of the mid-1960's (powered by the likes of Sao Paulo musical anarchists Os Mutantes, Gal Costa and Gilberto Gil, among others), the latter of whom has been a huge influence for Eliane. Now she returns the favor with her own take on this Beck favorite.

On her latest album, Eliane has hooked up with some of the hottest writers, producers, and DJs on the scene. Red-hot producer Andres Levin (Latin-funk master known as the brainchild behind the Afro/Latin/Hip hop fusion of Yerba Buena's Island Life) infuses 'Around the City' with a funky tropical vibe that mixes bossa nova with a deep Latin groove. Eliane also collaborated with the songwriting trio Lauren Christy, Graham Edwards & Scott Spock- collectively known as 'The Matrix.' This in-demand, writing/production team has co-written chart-topping and Grammy-nominated singles for artists like Liz Phair, Jason Mraz and Korn.
