The Balconies Win Local Honor

Ottawa's The Balconies recently re-located to Toronto, but their Ottawa community and following stands strong! In this year's Ottawa Xpress poll the up and coming threesome were voted by the Ottawa public as "Best Rock/Pop/Dance/Other Band" and "Best New Musical Artist/Group" in the Best of Ottawa poll. They also won the category for "Best Rock/Pop/Dance/Other Album" for their debut self titled release, that came out Independently on September 22nd.

The poll results are a great way to cap off The Balconies' triumphant yea -Playing a handful of festivals including Ottawa Bluesfest, CMW, NXNE, and Pop Montreal, and sharing stages with the likes of Mother Mother, Land of Talk, Dog Day and more.

They also released their full length debut (produced and engineered by Zeus' Carlin Nicholson and Mike O'Brien) to instant critical adoration, while their infectious live sets won over new fans at every show they played.

The band will cap off the year with two holiday shows in both their hometowns! December 12th the band will play in Toronto at the Horseshoe Tavern for Audio Blood and Third Estate's Jingle Bell Rock alongside Clothes Make the Man, Make Your Exit, and Oh No Forest Fires. December 18th the band will return to Ottawa to play IHeartMusic.net's Holiday show at Maverick's with Parlovr and Diamond Rings. If you're located elsewhere, don't fret, the band will spend most of 2010 touring Canada relentlessly!
