(RockAAA) Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes has slammed reality shows which turn wannabe singers into overnight sensations and he warns they need to always remain mindful to why they first picked up a microphone in the first place.

The Scottish born Australian rocker, who has had a remarkable 13 No1 albums in his adopted home land as Cold Chisel frontman and as a solo star, admits he hates shows like American and Australian Idol and he recalls the impact being catapulted into the glare of the spotlight had on Men At Work.:

"I hate those shows. A lot of good young singers have come through them but I don't like singing competitions," Barnes told RockAAA. "It's a very tough thing to do (turning people into stars overnight). Hopefully they get a lot of training on the job but I've seen a lot of bands support us one week then a week later have a big show like Men At Work.
