Ellie Goulding Sings and Stars in New Short Film 'Tom & Issy'
. The romantic short, which was actually shot entirely on a phone (the Nokia Lumia 1020), depicts Goulding playing the titular "Issy" role. The character lives in London with a less-than-attentive boyfriend and "Tom," the bumbling-but-sweet third wheel of a roommate obviously crushing on her. In the film, Tom and Issy embark on an adventurous day after Issy is essentially blown off by her boyfriend. Tom has a plan for Issy, which leads them to a rooftop open mic, where he dares challenges her to perform in public for the first time. As the two friends push each other to take on various dares, their mutual attraction grows. Goulding's music is prominent throughout the clip, from the Madeon-produced "Stay Awake" to her recent cover of the Waterboys' "How Long Will I Love You?" (originally recorded for another project, British film About Time). She's shown rehearsing the latter tune in Tom & Issy, at which point her boyfriend tells her she sounds like Lily Allen (generating eye-rolls from both Tom and Issy). Bro, have you even heard Lily Allen? Goulding's music will also appear in another, albeit larger, cinematic project coming up. Her new song "Mirror" is featured on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack (out Nov. 19). Watch the short film here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
