Lorde Becomes Youngest Artist To Top Billboard Charts Since Tiffany

(Radio.com) A royal curtsey to Lorde, who has dethroned Miley Cyrus at the top of Billboard's Hot 100. "Royals" topples "Wrecking Ball" and while it's exciting to see two successful young women taking their turn at the No. 1 spot, Lorde is also getting some attention for reaching that spot at the young age of 16.

She is not the youngest artist to reach such great heights, Billboard magazine confirms. Stevie Wonder holds that honor for his hit single "Fingerprints Pt. 2," with which he claimed his No. 1 at age 13 back in 1963.

Kid singers were apparently popular in '63, as the honor of youngest female ever to reach the spot goes to Little Peggy March in that same year at age 15. Lorde is, however, the youngest artist to top the charts since Tiffany (who was also 16) with "I Think We're Alone Now" back in 1987. more on this story
