Slipknot Had To Fire Jordison Or Shut Down Band

(TeamRock Radio) Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor says they faced a stark choice at the end of last year: fire drummer Joey Jordison or split up. Maggots were astonished when it was confirmed in December that co-founder Jordison had been dismissed. He later told how he'd been "blindsided" by the move.

Taylor insists no details can be discussed at the moment, subject to negotiations between the parties. But he believes he and his bandmates were painted into a corner over the decision about their future.

He tells Rock Revolt in a video interview: "It's hard. Really hard. But the only other thing was shutting the band down and none of us wanted to do that, so we're pushing on."

The frontman confirms Slipknot are looking at "a few people" when it comes to a new drummer, and continues, "It comes down to someone who can play the old stuff, but bring in a certain creativity. As soon as we know the fans will know."
