Mick Mars Says Health Won't Stop Him After Motley Crue

(Classic Rock) Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars has emphasized that the band's upcoming retirement has nothing to do with his illness. Earlier this week the band confirmed they'd split up after a final world tour, and signed a legally binding document preventing them from ever hitting the road again after 2015.

Even some Crue members had suggested part of the reason for the split was Mars's ankylosing spondylitis, which causes distortion of the spine as the vertebrae fuse together.

But the guitarist tells Artisan News: "I mostly get the health reason thing. It's a form of arthritis - it doesn't stop me from touring. I'm going to be touring a long time after Motley Crue." And he argues there's a positive side to suffering from AS
