Metallica Offer Free MP3s For Master of Puppets Anniversary

Metallica had two bits of good news for fans on Monday. The band celebrated the anniversary of their landmark "Masters of Puppets" album with a free download and also announced Metallica By Request for their only North American live appearance this summer.

The band announced on their Facebook page on Monday that the were offering fans a free download of their September 21st, 1986 concert at The Hammersmith Odeon in London, England to celebrate the 28th anniversary of "Master of Puppets."

The show was part of the tour in support of the album. It also features former Metal Church star John Marshall on rhythm guitar, substituting for James Hetfield who had broken his wrist in a skateboarding accident.

The tracklisting features, 'Master Of Puppets', 'For Whom The Bell Tolls', 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)', 'Ride The Lightning', Cliff Burton Solo, 'Whiplash', 'The Thing That Should Not Be', 'Fade To Black', 'Seek & Destroy', 'Creeping Death', 'The Four Horsemen', Kirk Solo, 'Damage, Inc.' and 'Fight Fire With Fire'. Fans can get the free download with their free membership to the band's live archive site LiveMetallica.com here.

The band also announced that they will be doing Metallica By Request, where fans get to help them pick their setlist, when they appear at this year's Heavy Montreal music festival which will be taking place on August 9th and 10th at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

The show is being billed as the band's only North American appearance this summer. Here is what they had to say, "We're bringing 'Metallica By Request' north in August to play the HEAVY MONTR�AL festival alongside a bunch of great bands including our friends in Slayer band, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Exodus and Apocalyptica! Weekend passes go on sale on Friday, March 7th at noon and attendees will by able to vote on the setlist."
