(Radio.com) Way, way back in the mid-'90s, the New York City club scene was ruled with a bedazzled fist by one Michael Alig, whose over-the-top parties and real-life theatrics made him a nightlife star before he was sent to prison for the murder and dismemberment of drug dealer Andre "Angel" Melendez. Alig's exploits were turned into the 2003 full-length feature film, Party Monster, starring Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green.

Earlier today (May 5), Alig was released from the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, NY. According to Alig's highly entertaining and colorful Twitter account, the hoopla surrounding his release almost landed him back behind bars .

On Monday, Alig tweeted the following, "Just narrowly escaped being re arrested for having my release filmed but we're ok and in our way to nyc! #narrowescape" more on this story
