Today Archie Powell of Archie Powell and the Exports tells us about the song "Holes," which is the first single from their third full length album "Back in Black". Here is the story:

"Holes" is about bad communication. It wasn't written with anyone in particular in mind, but it can apply to any sort of inter-personal relationship, romantic or otherwise.

I feel like this song goes a lot of places in a short amount of time. Every time I get to the end I'm surprised that it's only about two and a half minutes. The tension we build throughout is something I'm really proud of, and it lends itself nicely as a compliment to the lyrical content.

This is one of those tunes that congealed in my brain while I was at work. Damn thing wrote itself, chords and all. Didn't even have to mess around on a guitar or piano to knock it out. It's kind of a wonder that I was even able to remember the idea after working a full day, but I'm glad I did.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video here and learn more about the album right here!
