Paramore's Hayley Williams Engaged To New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert
. (Radio.com) New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert confirmed via Instagram that he and Paramore's Hayley Williams became engaged Christmas Day. In typical comedic fashion Gilbert announced, "Popped the question on Christmas Day!" followed by the classic on-stage punctuation, "#micdrop." Hayley followed suit a few minutes later tweeting, "Hey, guess what?" The couple have been dating since 2008 with their bands touring together on several occasions including a Caribbean cruise earlier this year dubbed Parahoy. During a recent interview about NFG's new album Resurrection, Gilbert opened up about weathering a rough patch in his relationship with Williams. But today, the couple appears to be on cloud nine. They've been seen together at numerous Hollywood events this year. Early in the relationship, much was made of the couple's age difference. In speaking with Rocksound, Gilbert explained, "Yeah, I'm dating Hayley. She is my girlfriend, and we are seven years apart. She's 19 so she's the age 'teen,' but in reality, it's only seven years But if you respect hayley and her band and their music, then you'll know she's extremely mature for her age, and she's not like a normal 19-year-old girl. You can buy her CD and listen to her lyrics and relate to them, and you're older than her, you know what I'm saying? She's mature for her age. Yeah, I'm a cradle robber-but f****** Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13-year-old cousin, so I'm not that creep!" Read more here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
