Taylor Swift Patents Song Lyrics


. (Radio.com) A day after getting Twitter hacked, Taylor Swift is back in the news securing something besides her online presence: her lyrics. On 1989, Swift has a lot of memorable lines, and now she has patented a number of them to ensure that others cannot make money off them by, say, putting them on a t-shirt or a bumper sticker or the like.

Among the phrases that Swift secured are 'Party Like it's 1989," 'Could Show You Incredible Things," 'Cause We Never Go Out of Style," and 'Nice to Meet You. Where You Been?"

But, maybe most controversial out of the newly patented terms is "This Sick Beat." The phrase, used in "Shake It Off," seems to have a greater history than that of the Taylor Swift song, and might take some getting used to for people to realize it is not free to use. Read more here.
