'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Dr. Zhivago' Star Omar Sharif Dead at 83

(Radio.com) Omar Sharif, the Egyptian actor who is best known for roles in Dr. Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia and more, has died. He was 83. Variety reports that Sharif passed away on Friday (July 10) of a heart attack at a hospital in Cairo.

Sharif was best known for playing Yuri in Dr. Zhivago and Sherif Ali in Lawrence of Arabia. This past May, it was announced that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Sharif was nominated for an Oscar for his work in Dr. Zhivago. He also played parts in Funny Girl and played Che Guevara in a 1969 biopic called Che! Read more here.
