'21 Jump Street' Female Spinoff May Be in the Works

(Radio.com) The popular 21 Jump Street franchise may get a new female face. Entertainment Weekly reports that Sony Pictures are looking at a spinoff of the films with a woman-centric bent, including female stars and writers from the TV show Broad City, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs.

While none of the news is confirmed by Sony or the writers just yet, Sony did release the news that the all-female Ghostbusters reboot will come to theaters on July 22, 2016, with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones to star and Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) directing.

With Sony's eye drifting toward the female, many are keen to give credence to the female Jump Street talks. EW does confirm that if a lady Jump Street were to come to fruition, producer Neal Moritz and writer-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would oversee the project. Read more here.
