At first the songs from these parrot-packin' nerd-rappers are fun and funny as they poke fun at thuggin' with tunes like "That's How We Row." But after a few songs every conceivable laugh-out-loud pirate joke and pun has been exhausted. By the album's fourth song, "On the Account," Captain Dan is pitching a job to wannabe buccaneers with just plain corny lines like "If you're inclined to rhyme/Or live a life of crime."
From there on it gets even worse as the Captain sails the ship into seas fit only for adolescent boys with naughty songs "Calypso's Crabs" and "Chests O' Plenty." Just for good measure, a seasonal song, "A Pirate Christmas" is tacked on at the end of From the Seas to the Streets.
It's understood that this song set is parody and novelty and no doubt the CD sells briskly when the crew puts into port somewhere for a live appearance. Otherwise you're going to have to drink that whole bottle of rum, matey, before you'll get more than scant ho-ho-ho's out of this one.
