Joe Con - I Choose You

.
While there is no new thing under the sun, there is always reinvention, reinterpretation and revisionism in music, which keeps things interesting. The track that stands out and will likely stop you in your tracks on Jon Con's I Choose You release is "Dream." It's not just an updating of the old Everly Brothers ballad, but its the surprisingly appropriate template for Con to rap over. Not only that, but there's also a really fine psychedelic electric guitar solo on it. Con proves he's not just an urban rapper with "Said and Done," which combines rapping with folk-ier elements, such as acoustic guitar and even harmonica.

Con is no 'I'm THE man!' sort of rapper, but more of a sensitive, singer-songwriter that chooses rap to best express himself. Had James Taylor been born a few decades later, he may have sounded just a little like Con.

I Choose You is filled with romantic musings. Con is an expressive singer, and this release will likely leave you feeling pretty good.
